Note: I removed the original because it didn't meet standards. I've posted one that's on an appropriate template and cleaned up a bit.

It is CNIM's MPC2 (multipurpose patrol craft 2) something they designed to be a combination of a tactical roll on/roll off ship and an ocean patrol vessel.

Best I can tell from CNIM's brochure it's armed only with a single Bofors 57mm gun. I struggled to make it conform to shipbucket specifications and expectations (I'm hoping it is). I'm open to any thoughts and suggestions on how to improve my first design!

The stats and brochure can be found at this link: http://www.cnim.com/resources/fichiers/ ... PC2_HR.pdf.

First of all, welcome to the Shipbucket! :)
I'm afraid I'm not having a good news for You. Unfortunately, this ship still needs significant amount of work to do, and there is also some to do about SB standards.

First of all, it should be directed in other way (shouldn't sail to the left, but to the right).

Secondly, it should be on standarized template, which can be found here:

http://www.shipbucket.com/forums/viewto ... f=5&t=1243

And credited with bigger fonts (and in Arial)

Also, the black contour lines should be more clean (now they look like hand-drawn), and there should be black contour on windows/portholes.

The gun should be - if possible taken from parts sheet. Some of them are here:

http://www.shipbucket.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=16

and here (but these are often outdated):

http://www.shipbucket.com/images.php?dir=Parts%20Sheets

I'm also unsure if the ship on drawing has proper size (if You scaled it properly) - 1 pixel should be 1/2 feet or 15,24cm, but I admit I didn't check it with the brochure You've linked.

I'm sure You'll get lots of good advice - and if You'll listen to it, I'm sure You'll be able to make good drawings.
Good luck!

Here's the brochure for the actual ship: http://www.cnim.com/resources/fichiers/ ... PC2_HR.pdf

I'll actually and respectfully disagree. Yes, it's very rough around the edges but it's actually a start, and you probably picked almost the perfect ship to cut your teeth into.

What you need to do, however, are the following things:

1. Make sure all lines are just one pixel in thickness.

2. Use the guns and other parts available here, rather than trying to draw them yourself: http://shipbucket.com/images.php?dir=Pa ... aliber.png

3. You should apply shading, but that can be saved for later.

4. You need to save your images as a .png

Thanks. I am having trouble replacing the drawn Bofors 57mm MK3 with the one in the specs because of the gentle slop on the front of the ship. Any suggestions?

Paste the Bofors above where it goes on the ship, then select a sizeable chunk of the ship using the selector tool, lift it up over the Bofors so it overlaps correctly, then drag the bofors and hull chunk back to where it goes.

I had a little trouble with the Bofors. While I managed to touch up some of the other smudges there's some little stuff under the Bofors I still have to deal with.

But this is my first try with a weapon from the specs on here.

Okay, you're getting a bit warmer. It looks like you're saving in .Jpeg format. Jpeg doesn't work for SB drawings, as it blurrs everything. (That was probably the reason you had a bit of touble getting the Bofors in there.) Use .png instead. Unfourtunately, you may have to start the drawing over because of this, or spend a lot of time de-pixelating.
