Hi all, i have joined this forum abouth two moths ago, but since then except for a non-shipucket kitbash of HMS Hood (mostly on-hold/scrapped now) i've mainly been a lurker and nothing more, now i want to finally post something.
First of all a little recap about myself:
i'm a 25-years-old guy from Italy who has always been interested in battleships, everything began with a book called "a guide to battleships: from the beginning to now" (or "guida alle corazzate: dalle origini a oggi" if you prefer in my mother toungue) when i was still a child, searching pictures was the next step, drawing WWII styled warships on paper becomes the third and Internet the fourth one (last but not least i can say).
Recently i've found again one of those old hand-drawn ships wich dates back about 10 years ago (a nice suprise as i was certain to have lost them all when my grandma thrash them away thinking they where just scratch-paper ) and decided to convert her into a computer drawing, discovering Shipbucket around the same time was another nice coincidence.
Now about the drawing:
She is big, insane, unreal, concieved in a loose-AU where WWII last longer that allowed every battleship up to the Montana-class to be built, and as you can see it's a strange mix betheen an American and a Japanese battleship, hull and superstructure are clearly american, but the fire-control tower screams IJN (this happens when you are a 15-yeas-old pagoda-mast-lover), also the main radar comes from the british parts sheet , i simply don't like how the american radar looked on top of her, so i took the liberty of putting something more "eyecandy" up there, as a fictional work i can always pretend that is an experimental new system (and that's not so far from the idea i had when i was drawing this monster years ago).
Most of the drawing is complete, what still is lacking is detailing and shading, so i've not yet cleared the template of most of the guns and parts (you can see how i kitbashed the propellers to get something more fit for the ship's size and how i managed to overcome some design errors when changin from paper to paint, like the guns beign the right lenght but the turrets beign too small for their calibre); i've also taken the funnel from Midnightnova's USS Massachussets and the Refit-Iowa battleships radars from Paul2011's USS New Jersey, hence the credits, the other radars comes from the parts sheet (if you spot something that is not there let me know, because most of the missile-oriented radars are basically the same mounted on the Arleigh Burke destroyers wich i used as a reference).
Because i'm a bit used to hull shapes and weapons arrangement but i'm a total rookie when it comes to radars and electronics i would also like to know if i can put the antenna marked under "Paul2011 BB-62 systems" on the back of the funnel or if the smoke would hamper it's functionality.
