Although I'm already doing the Sevomenny class DDG, I'm starting a side roject since I can't keep concentrated for long periods of time, so I'll be making the Armidale. This is just for practive, so I'm not trying to oust someone elses project or anything like that... Here are the sources I'm using; http://www.defence.gov.au/dmo/msd/sea14 ... utline.jpg http://www.taskforce72.org/images/wagga/armidale92.jpg So yeah, should be interesting, huh? |

Wow, a few thoughts of mine... Why the hæll would a patroll boat need a range of 3000nm?! The weapons and electronis seem to be the same. Thats nice and easy... |

Ok, here she is in Norwegian Coast Guard colors as observed by myself in Stavanger harbor. (The times I've seen these guys sunbathing on the aft decks of their ships -_-') I took a peek at another Armidale on SB and this is horrible compared to it... but hey, just practice, right? The rails are wrong, they need to be done like all other railings on every other ship on the bucket. An underwater hull wouldn't be missing. |

First, the Armidale class has been built, so you've posted it in the wrong sub-forum. Second, she's already been done: http://shipbucket.com/images.php?dir=Re ... 20%201.png Third, your version is out of scale by about 10m. Still, the drawing is a decent early-shot at shipbucket style. |

Take a look at how big Australia is, and how far there is in between the major harbours.Anyway, range, endurance and seakeeping are the main parameters for a patrolboat. Everything else can be sacrificed to gain those. Secondary to those are cost. Since they spend far more time at sea than their more warlike brethren, patrolboats have to be cheap to operate. That's why you see 3500t ships armed with nothing more than a 76mm gun and a handful of HMG/LMGs. |
