GLACIESFIRE was kind enough to provide a wide assortment of Boeing drawings for my use and just for the hell of it, I decided to design my own Boeing jet as a response to the A-380. After all, Boeing is planning something big in the future with the Y3, so this is my idea. The 747-8 is nice but I wanted to do more and make a true Boeing superjumbo. Therefore, I drew the Boeing 797-100.

I'm guessing there are a lot of flaws with the design that need adjusting, but how'd I do for the first time designing something like this? Feel free to critique as much as you want, as I'll use your criticisms to improve the design. What I'd also appreciate is advice on how to draw an even longer wing, as I'd like to make this a six-engine plane. If that doesn't work out, I'll make it a T-tail and put a couple of engines on the back.

The -200 variant will probably have an even longer fuselage. :D

Nice idea!!! Boeing proposed a project like this but at that time was to much futuristic…

Maybe the -200 can be shorter… ;-) As an SP model, but not so short…

797 is going to be the 737 replacement. As for size, the A380 is having a hard time recouping R&D costs, so I'm inclined to say that a hypothetical full jumbo from would have the same issue.

Well, if Y1 is going to be the 797, what are they going to call Y3? The 7107?

I drew this regardless of any aspects of realism. It's neither financially nor aerodynamically (I think) feasible.

well, Boeing's SST was named 2707, so perhaps the next plane should be called 2717?

Maybe start using letters and call it the 7A7?

I think the first improvement I'm going to make is enlarging the tail. The one on there now is taken directly from the 747-400 so it needs to be bigger.

The tail cone is too full - it should decrease in size more gradually.
The engine inlets are excessively skewed - you'll never operate at higher alpha than current airliners.
I'd copy the 787 cockpit, to attempt to preserve a common pilot training pipeline.
A full-size door near the aft end of the main deck would be sensible.

What do you mean by too skewed?
