My proposal for a replacement for the Kingston class, which to be honest isn't very good at being a patrol boat as it was designed a minesweeper. I took the liberty of naming it, but I have no idea what the pennant number would be so I left it as 000. http://i.imgur.com/FZTEW.png (V.1) http://i.imgur.com/hkXi1.png (V.2) http://i.imgur.com/Zsrsf.png (v.3) Armament: 1x 57mm gun 2x .50 HMG 1x Simbad mount Sensors: 1x Surface search radar 1x Mirador EO sensor (has IR which is great for SAR operations) 1x much smaller radar at rear to fill rear blind-spot Propulsion: 2x V12 diesel engines 2x Adjustable pitch propeller |

Very nice and feasible design. However, I'd remove the rocket launchers from the side of the 57 mm turret. The Canadian navy never has used them, to my knowledge. Also some more SatCom equipment would be desirable. Otherwise a well-designed, economical craft. |

I've added another sat dome and removed the rocket launcher. |

Very good, but now I discovered that, maybe the bridge structure needs some additional moulding, since otherwise it'd be perceived as awfully boxy and kind of rectangular, which is not good for severe weather survivability...but maybe you intended it so, then please ignore this advise! |

Yeah, I'm not especially satisfied with the bridge. I'll see if I can't make it look better. |

Change the bridge up a bit. @Paul: In this case the 57mm would be guided by the Mirador, not by the American system. |

Cute little thing, but I do think the gas turbine is overkill. Since this ship most likely will spent 99% of its time puttering about at 10-15kts I personally believe the volume and weight would be better spent on fuel and living space. This will give you greater range and endurance (Not the same thing) which is arguably the most important aspects of a patrol craft. In order to reduce ice build-up you should consider rounding the deck edges. |
