I have always had a great interest in the Fairey Fulmar, a great aircraft that is too often overlooked by the modern historiography of Second World War. As is the case with most of the Mediterranean campaing in my opinion. So I thought it was a good fit for my first official Shipbucket drawing. Using the already existing side-view made by Radome, I modified it heavily and I added the top and front views. Here's the result: This is N1932, of 806 Naval Air Squadron I have to say that I am proud of the final result, but comments and criticism are welcome, I want to improve my skills and you guys definitely have more eperience than I do. I also intend to make the Mk.II and NF versions, both of which are very similar to the Mk.I depicted here. |

Great work. Creating a top view from a side view that someone else has already drawn can be tricky stuff. |

And now here's the Fulmar Mk.II The aircraft represented is BP782, again of 806 NAS, but this time in April 1942 when the squadron was deployed to the Indian Ocean aboard Illustrious, Churchill's famous 'most dangerous moment of the war'. Compared to the Mk.I, the visual distinctions between the two types are few, the most obvious one being the additions of new air intakes each side of the already existing one under the engine. Less visible were the 350 lbs of weight saving, the more powerful Merlin 30 engine, and the addition of more ammunitions for the eight Brownings machine guns, among others. I should also probably mention that I modified the Mk.I drawing after I found inconsistencies and got my hands on new source materials for the wing details. Next is the night figther variant, a derivative of the Mk.II |

Well done. Btw. You can safely post it in FD Aircraft 19 thread. |
