Looking great so far JSB!

My suggestions:
- Change the enclosed bridge windows to square shape rather than rounded, as they appear to be in photographs.
- Remember black outlines where appropriate i.e. details on masts.
- Avoid double black lines, like there are on bridge structure and mainmast.
- Regarding the cranes, don't worry too much about their angle. As long as they represent what was fitted at the time, you can depict them in any way you see fit.
- Apply appropriate shading to new structures i.e. enclosed bridge, spotting top (which I'm sure you were going to do anyway!).
- Keep up the good work!

All small points really.

Remember, most of, if not all, small details can only be made accurate by careful study of photographs, like Mike has provided for you.

And if you are struggling to make the pixels work for small or detailed parts, just take a look at existing drawings and see how other artists have made things work. Darth Panda and Hood are the first names that come to my head.

Since it has been a week just to say I'm working on a 1928 (as more pics) Tiger and maybe a later 1934-39-45 (mild or heavy upgraded ? kongo with queen ann's or just a cheap/rush job ).
RL/work has slowed me so will be weekend /next week before I post.

my work so far (and much still to do, real ships are so much harder than making your own !).
please do critique,
(especially on shipbucket rules I'm not sure about the flag masts should I re do in black ?) and many other q's.
Thanks JSB

I don't have the body of knowledge for this ship to comment on its accuracy but it looks good so far. The one change I would recommend is the canvass railings on the forward superstructure should be recolored if they are in fact canvas, if they aren't they should recolored anyway.

Is this a shipbucket standard ? the pics for later tiger show the canvas as grey (painted ?) so I swapped them to that ?
thanks JSB

Or on second thoughts have I been deceived by recolored pics that should be B&W ?

We often do the tarp one or two shades darker than the steel surface. That way we can actually blend the railing supports behind it better. Or, we make them lighter, depending on actual historical evidence.

Nice progress. Everything looks ok to me, its pretty hard drawing from photos - just finding the right angles and resolution is sometimes a mammoth task.

The devil is in the details but sometimes the details become the devil. This looks about right in terms of a classic SB approach, my advice is if you can show the details from a high-res photo then do so, but if in doubt then leave out! In grainy B&W photos details can often appear like a blob or misshapen objects.

Sadly I cant find many pics (thanks to Colombamike for most of them)(and why are they all of the wrong side  ! and at 45ish degrees so hard to get stuff lined up) so not sure about how much more detail to add as its going to be very much just hoping its symmetrical when it probably isn't ( like the 3 anchor's S 2/Port 1 unless I'm wrong).
Thanks for all your comments, will tidy it up a bit and post my next update. JSB
