It seems to be just fine for the time period.

I don't think this is an issue?

New York-class battleships have 2 screws and a similar gun layout.

A crane on the aft mast would be slightly awkward.

Too small for 12" guns? How?

Ok I have made a pic to talk thoughts my thoughts,
[ img ]

1- I just think you have to many styles of superstructure (you have 7 bits) with a big mix (I would cut to 2 or 3 styles max, Wyoming has 2 masts and bridge with one crane)

2- I think your funnels are to close for 1911 as they have to be good ventilation for coal fired boiler in use at that time (I would move one back and one a bit forward, make them the same size (and as each other looks better) and spacing as Wyoming if you want a similar ship)

3- If you have pole masts (or tripods the top on the foremast looks heavy) then use them to save weight just add a jib

4- Sorry, I did not think they where 12" due to size they look more like 13.5/14" (comparison added for barrel thickness and size) maybe German/other guns are bigger ? (I would test v lots of others where did you get them from/base them on ?)

5- OK if going for slow I agree it will work

6- for 1911 directors are very early (especially 2 of them)

Hope that explains my point of view, JSB

The main guns are taken from the Kaiserliche Marine heavy guns sheet.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the propeller shafts yet...

Have a look at the shafts on the Wyoming compared to yours.

Then you tell us what is wrong with it, and fix it.

I can only guess that they were too low in the hull.

Also have a look at the way you have the shaft entering the hull. See the way the Wyoming shafts look like they are blending into the hull.

How do you suggest they be blended better while still showing clearly that they are at a different angle than the hull?
