I seem to remember that Titanic and it's sister ships had a dummy funnel just to make the ship seem bigger?

there are different ships with dummy funnels, and they have different purposes..... but in your case it actually only puts the ship out of balance in looks, with no practical reason for it being there other then looks, right?

I think it looks nice.

Edit: I have added some cranes and such to the deck of the liner.

with all due respect, but that might be because your eyes are untrained due to not being used to looking, and I mean REALLY looking at real ships. this is a common problem with new users here, something we try to avoid by suggesting to draw an existing ship first (and with that, training to look at how ships really work) before trying own designs.

if you compare it with the drawings Novice posted, I see a few very apparent things:
- the superstructure is quite stern heavy
- the amount of sloops, common before the titanic disaster, would mean the max amount of people on board would be..... about 400 maximum. kind of a big ship for just 400 including crew, is it not?
- you have cargo holds but no means to load them
- you have windows in your cargo holds
- your machinery is very far aft, judging by your funnels. this limits the size, making the ship somewhat slow compared to other liners of its size, even with 3 propellers.
- the ship has an hull shape that fits more on a warship then on a liner.
- the superstructure is very uniform, something unlikely for a ship of this era
- the lifeboats are lowered onto the deck 2 levels lower currently, not into the sea
- your drawing lacks many details.

As I said before, the Titanic never happened in this AU, so it was never required that there be enough lifeboats for all people.

I added cranes in this last edit.

Also: would the ship not be more balanced due to having two cargo holds in the bow?

reread my line about the lifeboats. I took the standards as when the rules before the titanic disaster. if I applied the later rules, you would have had room for about.... 150 people on board.

the ship would be more balanced if you had those holds always full. you won't have that in reality, so it does not work. anyways, you need that space for machinery, anyways :P

the cranes you added cannot actually reach the entire hold nor can they reach overboard with any load hanging under it. again, look at real life ships how they did that ;)

I've moved the entire superstructure.
I don't see any cranes on Britannic or the two liners posted earlier at all?

I've updated the design again, made it so the lifeboats don't lower onto a deck.

And there would be lifeboats between the ones visible, maybe two 5 meter long boats between each.

That is interesting.

I've replaced the cranes with them.

Again, look at the two Real Life ships I had posted
Both were built before the Titanic disaster,, and so their lifeboats complement is below the standard set by that disaster.
The number of vents in ships of that period was dictated need to allow air into the engine and boiler rooms. The funnels themselves were used to "suck" air into the boilers. Most ships at that time used coal as fuel, and so needed coal hatches, these were either on the hull sides, like on the Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse, or on top (like on the Laconia, and are not visible).
The use of derricks for the cargo hatches is somewhat short, you need more.
And also take note of what been said before. It still wasn't fixed.
