Indeed.

I thought it was interesting and I'm the only one really bothering to do naval/maritime stuff for this RP so the canal toll stuff is all there to support the building of these types of ships.

It makes an interesting ships (why not do a real life version as well ? :D ) but not sure you should base your entire MM on it unless you are charged to go through the Bosporus ?
The Turret ship is it was known was built by Doxford, Great Britain, who had developed the type from an American whale-back type, mainly used on the Great Lakes (42 ships, boats, built between 1887 to 1898). The Turret ships were indeed built to cut on Suez Canal transit costs (which at the time were calculated on the basis of the weather deck area, hence the smaller area of the upper deck). Incidentally the turret shape had the added bonus of contributing some strength to the hull. The biggest user of Turret ships was the Clan line (IMHO), with British India also a big user. A shipping line which was trading east of Suez, but didn't use the type was Alfred Holt (Blue Funnel Line).
As for real life ships I have plans for several ships

Which changes need to be made to the hull?

Well, as I said on the last page, shading needs to be refined to better emulate the turret ship hull shape. As it is now, I never would have guessed that that is what it is. It'll take a couple of tries. Experiment with it, come up with several ideas, and post them. We'll help you figure out what looks best.

How does the bow shading look?

I will figure out stern shading if this looks nice.

not good. shading of the hull should look like that.

read this:
http://www.shipbucket.com/forums/viewto ... f=5&t=5460

The hull should be shaded more like this, you have to remember the light from the sun is shining on the hull from one direction. simply said: In Shipbucket it is a bit from front and above. so that area the light hit, should be in an light shade, but that area where the light doesn't hit, should have an darker shade.

(This is just an example, on an very old drawing)

What about switching the shade for a highlight?

That looks good, however, like HeuHen pointed out, it doesn't meet style standards. However, because it is an AU design, you have a little more flexibility. You just need to play with it and come up with several ideas and then post it.

The entire look of the ship may have just been improved by two lines.
