Don't think Weapons,
Think what you want it to do ?
What are its jobs ? What navy is it part of ? When was it built ? What's the budget ? What threats must it face ?
(YES I'm spouting stuff I really don't understand myself  but I was told it by my betters 8-) ).
When you have the answers to the above you will make a much better ship.

Keep trying :)

Are you aware of the past 70 years of naval doctrine evolution? (Striking out the Iowa's rather lengthy service) Last time I think destroyers were thought to act as escorts to battleships was about the 1940's

I'd say go for the Oto Melara 127mm if money's no issue which $3.5 Billion seem to be

I'm assuming $3.5Bn is for the entire class of vessels rather than just one vessel? If so how many are to be built over how long? All these sorts of things need to be taken into account.

Hi Battleship lover,

I don't mean to sound like I'm dismissing your work out of hand, but for the requirements you have described, it sounds like you want a Burke - and the unit cost for those is roughly half what you have quoted, unless I've missed something?

my thought exactly. a flight 2A burke, to be exact. ASW and AAW escorts for CBG and secondary, (now the perry's are going away, primary as well) the defence of merchant groups or amphib groups.

Acelanceloet/mods can these guides be stickyed ? (maybe at the top of the beginner section ?)

As for the destroyer,
Quote:
job: escort aircraft carriers and battleships, important cargo, etc.
Good clear role, Escort stuff (and top end fast stuff at that)
Quote:
Built: modern time- 2014+
(so very modern, think stealth etc )
Quote:
budget: $3.5 billion
Yes please says the designer ! (or is that for the class of how many? US$1,843 million (Arleigh Burke-class destroyer DDG 114–116, FY2011/12) ,Type 45 destroyer Over £1,050M per ship inc R&D. so you can afford to go big)
Quote:
threats: aircraft, subs, fast attack craft, missiles, etc
So everything ;) but it is a top end escort !

With that budget don't worry about 57mm (it will fit ;) ) This ship is a do everything cost no object type, think what missile system (for AA defence really what radar as that's more important) you are going with, then how many Helicopter (for ASW)+back up system and sonar, then add CIWS of choice (20-57 or RAM?) and a big gun just because you might as well (4.5-127-155). What systems you use will depend of who its for US/Euro/other (not that many will have 3.5Bn escorts ;) ). The hull will be A) Big B) Stealthy.

uh what is a burke?
also for the budget I wanted around something like 10 ships...? Is that too much?
The ships are supposed to last for 25- 35 years
Also I'm confused on what you mean by flight 2a burke, Asw, AAw escorts, and stuff like that.
I need you to explain stuff like this to me like I am an idiot because as far as I'm concerned I have no idea what you guys are talking about.
