I took a stab at "fixing" the Providence class, but I have to say I think you'd be better of starting over from scratch.

My only advise would be make your own ships. Doing flags, crests and badges is not easier than making a ship. It's all line art drawings.
Study ships, listen to people advise here and you'll do well.

There it is, my first attempt at drawing lineart. It's an ASW patrol craft, I haven't come up with a name for it yet. I'm still practicing drawing ship bellies, so the water is covering it up for now.

not bad, but watch out for mismatching time era's and roles. an rhib is 1980+, that gun certainly is not, the radar is....
also, I would suggest starting with an frigate size ship, with the underwater hull drawn, in your favorite time era (look at the ships at the main site to define which one is :P) and try to find what drives the designs of these ships. the best way to do this is by drawing some real designs.

yeah, we say this to everyone who is new, but that is because it works :P from this though, I can see you can draw at least a bit, and you should be able to find your way in our style just fine if you do the above described ;)

Oops, my mistake. Didn't realize I had put a WWII-era gun on a fairly modern ship :D

And yeah, I could try that..

Methinks he means underwater hulls.

Ok, from the latest ship, I'd add ladders, a second short range radar, and probably another communications dome. I'd also recommend some form of stack for the engines, and additional life rings.

I'd also stick it on the proper shipbucket template.
