uhm.... rodondo, that definition of sheer is a little off.
sheer is that the main deck (and most of the time the decks underneath it a bit as well) are a bit curved towards the bow (and sometimes stern) to get more freeboard fore and aft. this is important as the bow and stern of an ship sometimes 'dive' into waves and you want as less water as possible on deck, also it is more comfortable fore and aft because the deck stays more horizontal. since the age of sail this feature is around, but over time it disappears more and more because it is more expensive to produce curved decks.

Oh so when decks are curved in the fore, the entire deck is? It's not just walls persay that rise up around a flat deck?

And could you also look at the amount of sheer present on a ship as an indication to how rough the waters/weather it was designed for are?

The New Britannian Empire is in comparison to the Britannian Empire which was my first 'Nation' in the first incarnation of the forum game I've mentioned. Since it died and I recreated it myself, I've taken to adding the "New" so that the members of the Flickr group can tell which things I've built are from which game. Britannia isn't stolen from you, or Code Geass, it's actually the old Roman name for the British Isles, and is still the name for the persona of Great Britain (Their Uncle Sam). So while it may seem familiar, believe me, it is in no way yours.
