as the plans for this vessel start to firm up there are some proposals coming out of design houses some might actually make it to serious proposals but in ship bucket terms they might make good never built or AU vessels. http://www.stellersystems.co.uk/wp-cont ... ochure.pdf |

Interesting. I still kinda prefer the Black Swan II proposals though. |

Never heard of this company before. Pretty cool-looking brochure but anyone can make some real fancy 3-D drawings and I doubt the Spartan on offer here is what the RN and the Treasury are looking for. The design is far too close to the Type 26 and lacks any details at all other than its designed for survivability (aren't all warships?) and has a big hangar. They would make sure it was exportable rather than RN focused and be independent of both the shipyard and government procurement, which let's be honest the MOD won't like. Realistically BAE Systems will be designing and building the Type 31, realistically the best we can expect is a warmed-up River class based design. (spotted two rookie errors, the RN is phasing out Harpoon and we don't operate the NH90) |

new zealand and australia both operate NH90 and will be looking for MEKO200 replacements soon |
