https://video.udn.com/news/490374 The gist of the story: The ROCN has unveiled their plan to both acquire a LPD of indigenous design and mass-produce the Tuo Chiang class corvette. The planned LPD is expected to be of a similar configuration to the American San Antonio class and roughly half of the latter's displacement. Its currently-planned armament includes a single 76mm Mk.75 gun, two Phalanx CIWS, and two 16-round TC-2 missile box launchers (the same ones to be used by upgraded Kang Ding class frigates). The mass-production Tuo Chiang class corvette has a slightly-lengthened hull, a somewhat expanded bridge, and a new 3D search radar inside an enclosed mast. The displacement is expected to increase to close to 700 tonnes. |

More pictures of both models HERE! The page is actually about a recently-opened naval museum though, so you need to scroll down a bit. The page would require you to confirm that you are 18+ though for reasons I cannot explain (the content is completely G-rated). The verification page is written in Chinese, and all you have to do is to click the upper option, but in case this step gives you trouble, links to the pictures below: http://i.imgur.com/Fy31Mxr.jpg http://i.imgur.com/penGyfM.jpg http://i.imgur.com/eOHhWD5.jpg http://i.imgur.com/5DzhsTx.jpg http://i.imgur.com/bGGN6Ax.jpg http://i.imgur.com/V6adcxL.jpg http://i.imgur.com/gROiAw0.jpg http://i.imgur.com/KSiVkws.jpg http://i.imgur.com/WossbAA.jpg http://i.imgur.com/2UilqMG.jpg http://i.imgur.com/L2O1Rbi.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ySnO0iX.jpg http://i.imgur.com/kilnnyv.jpg http://i.imgur.com/HJNCknw.jpg |
