I'm currently working on the STS system, ie Space Shuttle, and I'm stuck on the aft Orbiter-External Tank Aft Attachment Frame. I need the measurements of the various sections of it, similar to this image of the Forward Attachment Frame. |

You are missing #4 BSM on the aft skirt closeout, you know. The yellow-orange rings on the fourth segment should probably not be surrounded by black, depending on your interpretation of the style guide. These were simple polyurethane foam expansions, and were not carefully or specifically dimensioned. I'll see if I can find any references on the aft attachment frame. |

it's a bit funny, but also genius. that they use foam like that. it's like: "Let us build the most advance space shuttle to today, but give it some foam.. protection!" |

The foam was applied to the lower side of stiffening rings on the booster casing to reduce forces applied during splashdown. All it does is streamline the motor somewhat. |
