the 747 ain't to a far fetched idea, I mean the US has tested launching an ICBM out of the back of a C5 so putting a similar contraption in a C17 or C5 with several Cruise missiles aint that different.....

Note that, as the Iowas already had four funnels trunked into two, to trunk that further into a single funnel would've been massive.

It was to be the fifth Iowa class BB. She was still under construction when the war ended and was cancilled in Aug. 1945.

IIRC didnt they use the Illinois's bow to repair the iowa after it accidentally rammed a destroyer?

Google it, I think you will find that bow was from the incomplete hull of USS Kentucky - the remainder of which wasn't scrapped till 1958.
