Here is the brochure of Northrop Grumman's Modular Launch System. The Modular Launch System is closer in design to Russian vertical launch systems in operation than the Mk. 41 VLS. I am posting it here if any of you may need it.

So it's an angled cold-launch canister.

yes, like Russian VLS. The Eject Launch Module fits in the same space footprint as an 8-cell Mk. 41 VLS, allowing for retrofit to existing ships with Mk. 41.
Edit: The reason why it's angled is that if the missile's rocket motor fails immediately after launch the missile will fall into the sea, not into the ship's deck.

Can't be precisely the same if the missile tubes are angled, at least angled enough to throw the missile vertically and over the side before rocket start. I'm assuming it would be wider on the main deck than below, although what it would be cutting as it angles outward I don't know.

It looks like with the version that fits in the 8 cell Mk41 footprint you are down to 6 cells because of the angling.
