I suggest you make them yourself, if you want to give a friend something, to remember his days in those two ships.

As a side note, requests are posted usually in the Sources and Reference Drawings thread, where you post sources and referance material for the ships you want drawn.
(I hope the mod. here will not take it as backseat moderation)

Welcome on board Airborne67 :D First look at this link http://shipbucket.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=16. Then find good pictures with side views and - if possible - some good line drawings. Study some of the other members drawings and read critics so you can catch some good hints, and then draw. Post your drawing in "Beginners forum". It doesn't have to be complete because when you post your drawing you've opened for critics and most important helping guidelines ;)
I'll hope you will find this challenge amusing and exciting as all we other do :)

Edit: I've just found this link http://shipbucket.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3287 It's made by Acelanceloet, one of our really talented drawer and besides that very helpfull.

Perhaps this could help You - a side drawing of Kilauea class (of which AE-29 Mt.Hood was part) from Weyers Flotten Taschenbuch 1990-1991, p. 611. Not too great quality (these books have rather small format) but can be useful as the basis of the drawing.

Here is a Kilauea class ship including underwater hull. Although this images are not entirely accurate, the image may give some hint on the shape of the hull

lol I am certain that is not accurate, that bilge keel is not allowed by any rule or regulation and , if it is really like that, will most likely be lost completely at the first bump against the quay when moored xD

I ask of you to prove me wrong. Not say I am wrong, but prove it, because then I will have learned something new.

Just one thing. Before starting any drawing, you should talk to Radome. At least the Kilauea class is on his worklist.

True, it's on my worklist, but i don't have any time now to draw anything...
So if you want to try drawing the ship, be my guest.
Or wait... it will come eventually when i'll have more time.
