I wouldn't exactly call a 40mm a medium-caliber weapon but *shrugs* |

Isn't the 57-76mm considered medium caliber? |

For example: http://www.navweaps.com/Weapons/WNUS_Main.htm Battleship Main Guns: Heavy or Large guns 9" (229mm) or larger Cruiser / Destroyer Main Guns and Battleship / Cruiser Secondary Guns: Medium guns 8" (203mm) to 4" (102mm) Smaller Caliber and Anti-Aircraft Guns: Small or secondary guns 3" (76mm) and smaller This is not canon but just a rough guide I use. Does anyone have a better guide? |

I was just saying in terms of modern ships, such as frigates, destroyers, and cruisers. The 20-40mm calibers are generally considered light, suitable for anti-aircraft and engagement of small surface combatants. |

So maybe for the modern era (say post Korean War) 20mm to 40mm = Light guns 45mm to 130mm = Medium guns 155mm to 203mm = Heavy guns 220mm and over = OMG WTF guns Generally about half of the Battleship era gun sizes. |
