Behold the wonders of the Cold War USN training program!
Originally a β
rds scale model of a Destroyer Escort, USS Recruit was commissioned in 1949. In 1967 she went from being TDE-1 to Building 430 when the computerized catalog of USN ships couldn't take a ship with now engines, no screws, no crew, wasn't at sea, wasn't tied up to a pier, wasn't in dry dock, and wasn't in mothballs. In 1982 she received an overhaul that replaced structures and systems with those found on a Perry Class frigate.
More pictures to come as a process them.
By the way, she's mine to draw.
