EDIT: new title, so I can post other designs witout opening a new topic every time

frigate F2000
Hi all ;)

I decided to post a second drawing in the Beginners Forum
before open a own topic for the other ones...

This is a frigate (?) build in the early 2000s.
3 units are in class.

armament:
- 76mm main gun
- 40mm twin aa gun
- 2 MLG-27
- 2 12,7mm machine guns
- 64 cells Mk41 (don't know whether it's too much?)
- 8 Harpoon anti-ship missiles

-powered by 2 diesel engines
-little well deck for specific gear (counter mine, underseadiver)
-capacity of 2 helos up to NH-90 size (one on deck, one in the hangar)

so here you go:

Hope you like that one too :D
And if you think sth. can be done better please tell me ;)

Your rudder and props might be a bit oversized and I don't really think full on lifeboats are too viable on a warship, other than that it looks pretty well rounded.

As for the VLS question I'd think 32 cells would be plenty on a ship of this size.

Yeah as Blackbuck said.

- replace the lifeboat with an RHIB
- A 32 cell VLS would be enough on a ship this size (Norwegian Fridtjof Nansen class frigate have only 32 cell VLS and that frigate is 133 meter long).
- for power plant, is not unheard of just having two diesel engine. But often ships of this type tend to have two diesel engine, and a gas turbine. where the propellers are powered by electric motors or directly from the gas turbine.
- I would say that the radar fit is a bit light, but then I don't know what is hiding under that doom. But you need guidance radar for the missile (for those that need them) (anti-ship missile tend to be fire and forget missile, but some...)

Fridtjof Nansen class frigate, bigger but a good example:

No need to keep it in the beginers forum
:)

Hi ;)

thank you for the feedback!

I changed some things:
-reduced the size of the rudder and props (but I think they can be slightly bigger, what do yo say?)
-replaced the lifebaot with a RHIB
-reduced VLS cells to 32
-rewoked radar systems

think it's better now:

also here is survey of the radar systems:

hope you like the update :D

PS: for the liveboat: I oriented towards this:
K130 Braunschweig

Looks good though that propellor looks over a century too old for the design (looks kinda like one of mine I think :p) the propellor you had was the right style but about 20-25% too big, especially in close proximity to the waterline and hull

Good looking ship would be perfect basic frigate for many navy's. Just a couple of questions and remarks;
- The AW-139 you use is not a naval helicopter you would want to use on a ship for a long time. due to salt and water it will destroy it internaly.
- That boeing Scaneagle UAV wasn't in use before 2005 so, im a huge fan of it not sure if it fits your timeframe. Same thing for the S-100 camcopter.
- What are all these missiles ? U said Harpoons but used NSM launchers, i think the upper missile on the VLS is somekind of ASW torpedo missile and 2 medium range Anti-Air missiles?

Overall i like the ship just some small things to fix, love to see more of your work in the future!

Thanks ;)

I think it will be possible to modify the AW 139 for naval purposes, otherwise i will use
on of the AU produced helos (only draw in FD scale now, have to draw them in sb scale in
future).

The UAV are added later (the ship is schown in the current state, forgot to write that), so you are right originally the UAVs
weren't equiped ;).
The missiles are AU ones derived from Harpoon ones.
-white heads: against ships
-black heads: against subs, like you said ;)
-the lower one: Anti Air (think medium range is realistic)

The "launch box" is a armoured launcher not based one a real model...

Well everything is posible in AU designs so. Thanks for explaining the missiles my only suggetion would be to not equip the VLS with your Anti-ship missile but fit a point defense / short range missile like ESSM or Sea Wolf missiles. Or just add that kind of missile to the VLS to keep the option for VL-launched ASuW missiles.
