Here is a WIP of a carrier for my AU, the CHF Avion. She is based on the HMS Furious in 1918. Please ignore credits for now. I'm posting here to see if I'm doing it right before adding too many details. |

Looking good Raxar Perhaps the (5.5in?) would be better placed at the stern to maximise hanger space though? |

Bridge is too small, even by the usual standards of an escort carrier of WW2. The gun (5.5" gun?) is badly situated, and the casement guns should be grouped, either aft or foreward to maximize on hangar space. I also think the hull bellow the water-line to be too shallow. |

99.9% done now, just a few details to be tweeked here and there. Also, some history that I've been meaning to post. The CNF Avion began life as an Effective class cruiser in 1916. At the time, Cenet was trying to modernize it's navy, but funding for the 6 ships fell through. 3 years later, in 1919, construction on the 6 half completed hulls lying forgotten in Komner yard was resumed, due to increasing tensions with Russia. The first 5, Effective, Minator, Jutpin, Warden, and Kring were completed as planned, but with materials in short supply, the Avion remained unfinished. April, a year later, it wa proposed to turn the unused and unfinished vessel into a carrier, with plans drawn up and approved by late November of that same year. The converted ship was completed in June of 1922 and launched August 13 in that year. She served as a raider and her planes conducted many scouting missions during the Second Russo-Cenet War, and was highly decorated. She stayed in active service, patrolling the North Pacific dutifully with the Second Fleet, until 1934, when she began to show her age during long overdue maintenence. The Admiralty, realizing the need for a new carrier, issued a design contest to the various reputable domestic shipbuilders, and a contract was awarded to the National Naval plant in Rekamptens in early 1936. That year construction commenced on this ship, the Lonfkom, which was launched in 1939. The Avion was scheduled to decommissioned in 1940, but with the outbreak of World War II, she was given one last hurray. Cenet officially sided with the Axis Powers on May 6, 1940, and the Japanese model of carrier warfare rubbed off on the Cenetian Admiralty. The Avion was disbatched to the Allutian campaign in mid 1942, and was one of the few Cenetian ships to escape back home after the debacle. In 1943, she evacuated a portion of the Chancellory and was the temporary House of Assembly during the Japanese retaliatory bombardment after Cenet declared neutrality in wake of the Alleutian Campaign. After a power shift and under a new Chancellor, one on much friendlier terms with Rooseveldt and a bit peeved after the Japanese retaliation, Cenet joined the Allied cause. The Avion was badly damaged in the Battle of the Kuril Trench,(a disastorous loss for the allies after trying to threaten Japan from the north) and sat out for most of the rest of the war until July 1945, when she was put in the Third Fleet (Reserve Fleet), and was used to ferry aircraft and supplies to Komner Naval base. On May 18th, 1946, after 23 years of service, the CNF Avion was decommissioned and turned into a museum, before being heavily damaged in a stormin 1952, and sinking. |

Reviving this topic with the Lonfkom carrier, built 1936. This is the last conventional carrier built by Cenet, and the largest vessel constructed. Brief design point: Due to increasing ties with Japan in the 1930's, Cenetian ship building began to lean more towards a Japanese style. It's still a WIP, but I'm posting to make sure that I'm not doing anything too wrong so far, carriers aren't my strong point. |

I think your hangar from hull to bottom of flight deck is too low - I count 27 pixels = 13.5 ft. Brit ships are from 15-17ft, US ships have 17-20 ft for hangar height. The actual size of the hangar looks like it would contain about 20-24 aircraft and that might be less from the placement of the funnels and how wide the hangar actually is compared to the width of hull. |
