The 逆戟鯨 (Ni Chi Ching), or Orca-class SLAM (Ship, Littoral Attack/Multirole), is intended to support fleet operations in the Taiwan Strait, as well as the Yellow Sea and South China Sea. When operating close to P.R.C.-claimed waters, SLAM is typically attached to frigate flotillas, providing protected refueling and replenishment capabilities, comprehensive unmanned surveillance, and multi-modal standoff weapons, while covered by longer-range SM-2 & SM-6 SAMs.
