Trojan: That's the gun on the other side. of the flight deck.

There is a slight problem where the guns have been mirrored, not rotated. It's lead to a displacement of the sighting domes.

You are going to have a problem with the port forward 4.5" mount there Zephyr.Any aircraft with a decent wing span is going to loose a wing when it uses the port side cat.Maybe move the cat track inboard a bit.

umm.... maybe just use stubby winged aircraft on the port cat? :?

yeah, I see what you mean. Need to move it inboard some, either that or lower that sponson and turret to below deck level.

Actually, Zephyr, what I would do is to move those forward sponsons further aft, since your bow will produce quite a considerable bow wave which will crash into the bottom section of those sponsons and buckle them in, if not outright tear them apart and off the hull. The USN experienced exactly these problems in their Forrestals, especially the USS Saratoga (CVA-60) and USS Ranger (CVA-61).

How far would you suggest? Maybe 1/4 or 1/3 back from where they are? More or less?

Oh, and do you mean the flight deck sponsons or the gun mount sponsons?

I think Bezzo meant the gun sponsons, as I was thinking exactly the same. Those gun sponsons are too far forward and will be subject to damage from heavy seas, and maybe from the bow wave in a flat calm.
