Hi Shippy,

re the topdown, specifically the 4.5" - I'd thought the circular deck markings were supposed to highlight the area swept by the barrel during traverse, to spare damaging both crewmembers and anything left on deck - but the barrel on your ends a little way past the safety markers - have I misunderstood the purpose of the deck markings?

Regards,
Ad

Probably should but when I drew it like that it looked silly so I used some artistic licence, and assumed as all the business parts usually on the foredeck are hidden under the fairing a, there's no reason for anyone to be on that deck and b, keeps the med bay busy bandaging up heads he he

Plus it's a 155mm. So barrel is longer that the 4.5in 115mm.

Oh, so you're going for common logistics and all that? Probably sensible - from what little I understand the reason RN hasn't gone for it is cashflow compared against cost-benefit, but New Cromer clearly doesn't have the same issue!

the missile launchers, phalanx and SMART-L both have parts. the missile launchers are in the belowdeck parts thread, the SMART-L I have to look up :P I think I drew it for my camelot aircraft carrier years ago, or stole it for that, but at least I have it lying around somewhere. PM me if I do not give it to you soon :P the phalanx are on the last ship in project DX, the DGV.
I also don't think that missile launcher arrangement, and I wonder why your funnels are shaped like that (wider at the aft end)

on the county, check the parts for the seacat and the gun ;) they look better haha

I think on the type 42, the RHIB david would be a bit different.

Cheers ace found your Camelot with the smart L and the dx with phalanx I just need to track down or draw the 30mm auto cannons top view.

Might alter the Smart L a bit, personal preference I think it looks better angled at 45' of centre.

Hi,

Type 45 has two funnels - there's one just aft of of the LRR over the hangar. It's reversed so that the narrow end is aft - possibly to help reduce turbulence, possibly to avoid an awkward join with the structure forward of it.

The warning markings on deck show the swept circle of the weapon, so should be larger.

The VLS arrangement is undesirable, particularly for a multihull with a narrow beam, and especially because it lines up with where the box structure joins with the main hull. The 45s arrangement of long, narrow "strips" of VLS is better structurally and in this case there would be a transverse bulkhead - or at least a deep frame - arranged to tie in with either end of the join of the box and hull - you can split the VLS either side of this bulkhead, of course - externally it would just look like a slightly larger gap between two of the launchers. In this case roughly lined up with the first "r" of Crazyhorse and the first ")".

But now I'm being picky. ;-)

Another quick break while I modify Defiant.

Here is a list of the weaponry fielded by the Air-force, Navy and Army of New Cromer. The Martel Missile was phased out of use in 1991 but a number of weapons are stored in a storage facility at one of New Cromer's Airbases. the BL755 and JP233 are officially banned under the Land Mine Treaty but some of these weapons also remain in storage.

My next ship is a merchant vessel built locally in New Cromer. 211meters long with a beam of 32.5meters approx 53,000 tonns. with a capacity for 400+ (10 a breast and 4 high 5 at a push offers 500+ (Based of 40ft containers)) ISO containers and two Vehicle decks with approx 4000 lane meters of vehicle space. 4 vessels were built locally and are owned by New Cromer's main shipping company Cromer Seaways. the ships are also commandeered by the military if and when required and can be equipped with a temp helideck on top of containers, mexi floats to be used with the rear and side ramps and provide a large logistics capability, containerised medical facilities and more...

Very nice merchant ship shippy2013. Please note that part of the bulb bows remained on the extreme right of the template:(, probably the original place of the drawing.
Also may I suggest some more work on the propeller, as it seems a little small and fragile compared to the ship. Also, consider making the funnels a little bigger and maybe 5 pixels higher, as well as making the mast a little higher.
Apart from the above a beautiful ship, and very well rendered.
