Thiel, I'll consider enclosed bridge wings. USN has never gone for such (at least until Zumwalt); for now I am willing to assume that they've done the relevant cost-benefit analyses and decided that that's the way to go right now.
I think it has more to do with the fact that all major US warships where designed before enclosed bridgewings became common on mainstream, so to speak, rather than something reserved for speciality ships. That's no more than ten years ago or so.
Stingers seem likely to go aboard in hotspots, although I doubt there'd be much utility in carrying them.
The thought came to me mostly because all major Danish warships carries them on a permanent basis.
Oh and by the way, what are those hatches near the stern under the flightdeck?
