Perhaps this Japanese warship could be classified as a frigate, not sure though. All drawings here are very nice.

Nah, the designation is correct as a corvette. Frigates were Longer, usually faster under steam and had a stronger battery than a corvette on that era.
"Technically [HMS] Inconstant was a corvette, because her main battery was carried on an uncovered gun
deck (she carried a few more guns on forecastle and poop above it). However, she was much larger and
more powerful than wooden steam corvettes; she was soon designated a frigate." - British Cruisers of the Victorian Era by Norman Friedman.
I hope that i've clarified your doubts. ^^

Yes, I think that in the Japanese rating it would be an armoured corvette. Cheers.

been a long time I'm since I've uploaded anything to this particular thread, hopefully you'll enjoy this little creationtide I made

IJN tenryuu, was a tenryuu class AA Cruiser commissioned in 1976, her class was designed to fill a major gap in the imperial Japanese fleet, this gap was that of a dedicated AA ship, however she also was designed to have some ASW capabilities and to work alongside dedicated ASW platforms. a series of design studies proposed with the final design calling for a Cruiser of 8000 tons standard load, carrying one type 23 medium-range missile system, one type 11 MOD-4 3.9 inch gun as well as its main weapon the type 28 rocket assisted torpedo and its accompanying launcher and combined with a helipad this gave the ships unprecedented anti-submarine capabilities. with 16 vessels completed between 1974 and 1979, all of which would serve throughout the latter half of the 20th century and into the opening years of the 21st century, with the final member of the class Kiso being placed into reserve in 2004 before eventually being scrapped in 2012

The drawing is great but I feel you could specialize it more, adding something like Mk.10 on the back and Mk.13 on the bow instead of the ASROC, to make it a proper AA cruiser.
Alternatively, add a proper helo deck and hangar for better ASW performance.

The drawing is good but the two things that stand out for my are the oversized funnels and the draught, which feels rather deep for a ship of this size.

Yes, her funnels overly large and I would have made them smaller, however according to my measurements the normal draught on my Cruiser is only 27 ft, with the maximum being 32 feet which apparently is less than that of the Ticonderoga class Cruisers. however when I compare it to the Ticonderoga that is drawn in SB, it has nowhere near the draught or 34 ft which is stated and has only a draught of 24 feet in SB scale, so I'm not entirely sure if the ships listed dimensions are wrong or SB scale drawing is incorrect.

Sources frequently do not indicate whether they refer to navigational draft (i.e., over the sonar dome) or the keel draft. It's better to work off of plans you trust.

In addition to others' comments, I think the electronics fit is pretty sub-optimal. Concentrating all of those systems on a single mast is an invitation to self-interference. Further, neither air search radar can cover a sliver aft without some amount of blockage, which is certainly undesirable for an AA ship with the GMLS located aft. I would prefer the 3D air search radar alone on a mainmast amidships, probably forward of the after funnel.

She also has no obvious ECM at all, which is somewhat unlikely by 1976. I would expect some sort of deception jammer, at least, to ward off simpler missiles like Styx.

All that aside, the drawing is certainly well-executed.

Draft on the "Tico's" is depth with the the sonar.

It's been a long time I'm since I've posted anything in this thread, but today I bring you something special, because this ship is part of a new AU, that I'm currently putting together and hopefully you'll enjoy what I have created.

the Cece Augustus class battleships was a class of modified standard type dreadnoughts built for the sanderan navy. the class serve primarily as a proof-of-concept for the development and usage of quad main gun turrets, even though the quad carrot proved to be a success, it did not make it into any future battleship designs due the amount of maintenance that the turret needed And its frequent breakdowns. like the other standard type battleships of the sanderan navy, the class sacrificed speed for both armour and range, due to sanderan's large overseas commitments.

Displacement: 30,000 tonnes standard
speed: 21 knots
range: 11,000 nautical miles at 10 knots Armagh
main belt: 12", ends 4"
armoured Deck: 5" over ammunition storage and machinery spaces, forecastle 3", quarterdeck 2.5"
torpedo bulkhead: 3"

8 35cm 45 calibre guns
12 15cm 60 calibre guns
4 10cm 45 calibre guns

[ img ]
Cece was commission on the 16th of November 1821 and was immediately placed into the third battleship Squadron her sister ship would follow her a year later in 1822. both ships with primarily be stationed out of the Alnus naval base in the Blue Sea. in 1829 Cece went into dry dock for refit and modernisation she would be put back into service in 1832 to however she would be separated from her sister and sent to one off to Terminus naval station in the Far East, she would however be reunited with her sister just in time for the start of the the second Great War. however she would not survive the conflict being sunk in 1841 by concentrated air attack from the Kushan air force, her sister ship would be sunk in 1848 by submarine attack.
