To my knowledge, no fast battleship ever shipped a center turret. A cruiser has much more serious power demands than a pokey 21-knot 1915 battleship.

I dont know if if counts but the G3/N3 designs all had a center mounted turret. Apart from that the closest we get is the Kii/Tosa/Amagi designs.

Fair. I should say, none with both a center and aft main battery.

The point remains the same, of course - machinery and battery cannot inhabit the same volume below decks.

Its not really centre on G3 the engines are all behind it, just the bridge is between the 2 and 3rd forward mount?
