Er... isn't this battleship too big and well armed for just 25000 tonn, Rowdy? She has the same main armament as the real "Vittorio Venetto"-class, the speed above the real "Vittorio Venetto"-class, and the armor similar to the real "Vittorio Venetto"-class (exept the turrets) - in just about half displacement of the real "Vittorio Venetto"-class? Isn't it too far?

Maybe the main guns should be the 12,6", as on modified italian battleships?

Sorry that was a typo that I've just fixed - it was supposed to be 12" main guns

Hm. Maybe, 12,6", model 1934? As i recall, italian still have the "Leonardo da Vinci" turrets is reserve, and after refit, their old battleships lose one triple 305-mm turret.

Thanks for the feedback guys, the only reason I didn't use 12.6" is simply that I didn't think of it (and didn't realise there were so many spare turrets). However I do prefer the look of the Littorio style turrets so I've done two versions - one that re-uses the 12.6" and one that has new build 12" (see post on page 1). Now that I'm a bit more awake I also decreased the armour slightly to allow for a more realistic shell weight.

Hm. Is it possible to build (in 1920-1930) something in 17500-20000 tons displacement, that would be able to defeat the old pre-world war I dreadnoughts and superdreadnoughts?

My favoured design would probably be a smaller Nelson, perhaps 3x3 12in or 2x4 12in. Perhaps 27kts speed, might ditch the transom at that speed. Secondaries of 4x2 6in and 4x2 4in (probably singles at first), 2x pom-pom mounts. Couple of aircraft too perhaps. I'll have to see what Springsharp says is possible.
