Well, since he's explicitly stating it's a cruiser...most cruisers are "double-ended" and having a midships bay in conjunction with a fore bay ends up being the same thing. Many ships retain the more traditional "double-ended" layout because of the propulsion system, but that's not necessarily a problem on
all ships (see Absalon, LCF).
Once again, I just had a problem with it on the Canadian Common Hull Frigate because the Canucks aren't likely to foot the budget for a ship like that.
