That ship is fantastic! Another A+ quality design. Is it based on the Rolls Royce support ship??
How would you see this employed in the force structure of current Op Sov. Borders though? Would she ferry asylum seekers from Christmas to Manus? Or keep the ACPBs at sea longer?
She is purely of my own design. Part of her role in the Border Protection Role would be to act as a mothership/command ship for patrol boats/survey ships tasked in the area of operation. As you suggested, she could also act as a processing platform and a transport for asylum seekers.
Another role she could undertake
(and this would be close to your heart) would be to act as a sea training platform for Officer Cadets.
Ah, awesome. I'm not too sold on the command aspect, as everything is commanded here from Canberra by civies and such, but processing and transport is definitely pertinent given the imminent decommissioning of Tobruk. But I do like the idea very much! And I do enjoy the sea training aspect
I can also only encourage more use of DPNU MRH's, as they look better than Army!
I do have another question though; Why no vehicle deck? A vessel of this nature would be *excellent* for HA/DR ops.
