Very nice! Love the 6" guns in Omaha type turrets. On a game forum a couple of years ago we discussed the idea of US battle cruisers prior to The Lexingtons. Started in 1912 when the US finally had decent turbines, Also in 1912 and 1913 the US only built one BB per year (Pennsylvania and Arizona)
The CCs would actually be based on the Penn class but with 14"x9, 11 belts and 27 knots) In 1914 with WW1 the US built the 3 New Mexico class so we speculated on 2 BBs and 1 CCs (with 9 x14/50 guns , followed in 1915 by the Tenn. & Calif and a CC along the same lines and armament. In 1916 there are the 4 Maryland class with 16" x 8. We thought maybe 2 CCs influenced by the RN Renowns, with 16" x 6 - very much like your design less armor & more speed than previous CCs) but with a Maryland type bridge. Then the full blown Lexingtons follow. Just sharing some old thoughts. Not saying you should change your drawing as it looks great!
