Hi, yes its definitely tight....

I was thinking that the Swordfish folded to under 18ft (cant find any others) so 44ft would give 8ft to play with, its only a very small funnel for 12k SHP so might fit? (it can be long and thin as no length concerns)

As to the catapult, it will have to be retractable. since float planes only work in nice weather would it matter if you cant extend it due to waves in high seas? (but I agree and if I was starting again I might well go for a single rotating and no hangar)

I looked at other weapons but mounts are just heavier and the 5.25 is to late, 4.5" would work but not sure that would be accepted pre war against AMCs or raiding CLs........ I will pretend I wanted a realistically bad design far to surface optimized but then again off SA the air threat is going to be next to nil?
