Post subject: | Kingdom of Windermere AU |
Note: The Kingdom of Windermere features elements from my previous AU projects such as both Philippines AU's and the Republic of Corpus Christi AU. Unlike those other AU's, Windermere is set in a completely alternate world, similar to the Strangereal setting of the Ace Combat video games. This post will be updated with information on Windermere once I finish some of the world building for the setting. |

The Saint Joseph Class has its roots in the abortive NFR-90 frigate program of the Northern Alliance Treaty Organization (NATO). When the NFR-90 was canceled in the mid 1990's due to post-Cold War budget cuts, Windermere started design work on what would become the Saint Joseph Class. The lead ship of the class, the HMWS Saint Joseph, was laid down in 2002 and commissioned in 2004. The hull of the Saint Joseph Class frigates is used by the Saint Matthew Class AAW frigates. |

The Saint Matthew Class features an AAW system using the Windermere Aerospace combat management system, the Elta EL/M-2248 MF-STAR AESA radar, the Thales SMART-L 3D volume search radar, and the Longsword family of missiles. The Longsword MR-SAM and LR-SAM as well as the C-Dome missiles are carried in the W-VLS vertical launch system, which was developed for the Saint Joseph and Saint Matthew classes. The lead ship of the class, the HMWS Saint Matthew, was commissioned in 2008. The Saint Matthew Class is primarily deployed with the two carrier battle groups of the Royal Windermere Navy. |

These LHD's replaced dock landing ships that entered service in the 1970's. The Caimen-90 Fast LCU is carried by the Saint Anthony Class LHD since 2016, providing superior capability compared to legacy LCU's. The Saint Anthony Class LHD features a Role 2 hospital for use either for casualty treatment in wartime or for humanitarian missions in peacetime. The lead ship of the class, the HMWS Saint Anthony, was commissioned in 2009. |

Interesting designs, perhaps the drawings could use a bit more detail? There are plenty of examples. |

The LHD is based on the Endurance-160, and the reference I used for it is not that detailed.

So you as an new artist, using the drawing for you'ryou'd AU, have the freedom to add details to the drawing. That the original drawing have nothing, shouldn't stop you. It's like you want to become something, but dosn't want do more than what the teacher ask you to do... if you want to become something, do more than what are asked if you. The same aplay to The drawing. Add details that aren't there, but should have been there. This make it look like it was actual build. It isn't enough with some lines and colors. |

In fairness I added some improvements to the hull of the LHD not seen in the original Endurance-160 design, though it could need some more improvement. Now for something different, here is a VLS from this AU: W-VLS vertical launch system: The W-VLS vertical launch system was initially developed by Windermere Aerospace as a missile launcher for the Saint Joseph Class and Saint Matthew Class frigates. It is similar to the Mark 41 and SYLVER vertical launch systems in dimensions. The W-VLS can accommodate several missiles manufactured by Windermere Aerospace and Rafael. Like Mark 41 and SYLVER, the W-VLS is available in several versions to suit the intended application: W-VLS Compact: Accommodates quadpacked C-Dome,intended for use on small ships such as corvettes and missile boats W-VLS SDLS: Accommodates Longsword MR-SAM and quadpacked C-Dome, intended for use on corvettes, frigates and aircraft carriers W-VLS Medium: Accommodates Longsword LR-SAM, Longsword MR-SAM and quadpacked C-Dome, intended for use on anti-air warfare frigates and destroyers W-VLS Strike: Accommodates Popeye Turbo, Archangel, W-ASROC, Longsword LR-SAM, Longsword MR-SAM and quadpacked C-Dome, intended for use on frigates and destroyers |

I have to question the reasoning behind designing and marketing a third western VLS system of equivalent dimensions. Arguably even Sylver was a dubious prospect after Mk 41 already had substantial market penetration, unless you're aiming to market to nations that would not be able to secure a Mk 41 or (or Sylver) export license. |

K-VLS is another VLS with similar dimensions, and is intended for launching Korean missiles. Same goes for the new Chinese universal VLS. The W-VLS is similar in that it is intended for launching Windermerian missiles.
