So, I have been considering ideas for alternate universe designs and I started thinking. During the course of World War Two, there were several times when British convoy escorts demonstrated the need for higher firepower, especially against surface threats and aircraft. Of course, this only applies to early-war escorts, as the Allies had convoy escort down to a science. So, in the spirit of design, I took Portsmouth Bill's Flower class template and modified it slightly. I added a rear deck-gun, first of all, and then strengthened the bridge and added another AA gun on top. I re-did some of the guard rails and other minor details. This is my very first drawing, so any criticism would be welcome, and please let me know what I should do next? if the image didnt work please let me know |

By the way, thanks so much to the original designer, Portsmouth Bill, for making such a beautiful template for me to horribly disfigure |

OK, first thing, the image works, technically, but comes up re-scaled and blurry. As a rule, if you don't have a legacy or premium account, do not use Photobucket anymore for pictures wider than 1000 pixels. Second thing, you would have an easier time with this if your image didn't have that much empty space on the right. You can probably use a smaller template. Third thing, you can streamline the credits to (Portsmouth Bill, RegiaMarina1939) as per the current templates. Fourth thing is only a technicality, but you should probably post this kind of one-off experiments in the "Personal Designs" folder, or "Beginner Drawings Forum" Then, once we can see it properly, we can talk about the drawing iteslf |

Ok thanks for the tips. I was wondering why it came out blurry. You will have to forgive me, I'm new to this. So, if I make the image smaller than 1,000 pixels it won't look blurry? |

Ok well it seems the issue was that I drew it in 1511 by 680 pixels and didn't resize it before I started. Woops. I will try some more practice drawings... |

Ok thanks for the tips. I was wondering why it came out blurry. You will have to forgive me, I'm new to this. So, if I make the image smaller than 1,000 pixels it won't look blurry? Since early this year, Photobucket automatically resizes images wider than 1000px (maybe 1024px). This has caused a lot of wailing and gnashing of the teeth around here as even years-old drawings have succumbed to the vignette treatment. As a rule, use another image host is you want to switch to larger drawings in the future. I personally have transitioned to Dropbox, other members have found other solutions. Take a peek in the General Discussion sub-forum for more discussion on the topic. Thing is, the particular drawing you posted here is visibly smaller than 1000px all told, so it might not be necessary to change host right now, if you cut out all the blank space in your image and fall back to one of the S- or M-size templates (see link in my first post). Sooner rather than later, you will have to use the standard templates on your drawings if you want them to be SB material, and sooner or later you might want to draw larger ships that will require templates wider than 1000px. So it's your call which way you want to go now: tl;dr: - Solution 1 (Short-term): cut down the extra space on the right side of your image and re-upload - Solution 1 (Long-term): move to a new image host later on so you can post larger drawings or: - Solution 2 (Short-term): re-upload your image on Dropbox or some other host - Solution 2 (Long-term): cut down this image to fit one of the standard SB templates |

Does photobucket allow you to resize images? |

Does photobucket allow you to resize images? Looks like. Select "Edit" in the image menu, the editor has a "crop" function. Never used it, so I can't guarantee the result won't be riddled with JPEG blur due to runaway compression parameters, though. On general principle I'd advise removing the image and reupload a cropped version. Don't forget to change the link in that case.

Ok I found that resizing the images in MS paint from default size to a maximum of 1,000 pixels will work |
