So, I've already started designing some guns, but I still have the land mass, flag, and all other stuff. Just expect some heavy weaponry. EDIT: I got the map and stats done.
Nation Federal Republic of Raermany Flag The Crimson Cross Anthem “Onto The Liberty” Motto "Liberty and serenity." Some Vikings remained to create their own nationality, later called the Raermans. Fast forward into the 1600's, the British invaded Raermany and made into a dominion of the British Empire. Onto the 1900's, the Raerman Independence Movement began in 1917, and gained momentum onward into the 1950's and 1960's when the Suez Crisis occured, and the Raerman government gained independence in 1964. Unfortnately, relations between Raermany and the United Kingdom have been sour, but relations with other European nations are relatively good. WIP
|

And for that you need to create new empty thread as type of... trailer?

What our esteemed colleagues are trying to say while thinking themselves witty; most people will only post their AUs once they have a map, a loose story, and at least one ship drawing. |

I see. I wasn't sure if this was a placeholder or what. Obviously you are free to post whatever you want, let's just see some content. |

What is the etymology of the name? What does it mean, what does it mean? My first thought when I see 'Raermany' is it's Germany with an 'Ra' replacing the 'G.' If you don't care, that's fine, but I find that an AU that has put though into it's name and where it came from is much more interesting than one that just mashes two words together and/or sounds cool. Just my opinion though. It's nice to see someone using my legend and color scale (although the color scale was modified from North Point's map), however, it has undergone a revamp. I am currently in the process of resizing and redoing Denton's map, with a new legend, color scale, etc. If you would like the updated legend and symbols, pm me. Concerning the map itself, it's a good start but there are a lot of straight lines along the coast. They coasts do not have to be super detailed (which I did on Salide's map) because it can detract from the overall image, especially when you add more information, but it's important to give it a natural feel. I notice you have quite a few inland lakes, and many do not have rivers that lead to another body of water, like the sea. Most every body of water is going to have an outlet river of some kind. On 2 rivers you do have, you have placed dams on both ends of the river at the lake, which doesn't make any sense. Finally, the terrain features are too clustered. You have 3 major blocks of mountains and a central plain/valley that is empty, save for the lakes. Adding some small terrain variations through here will make the map feel more natural. For a smaller island like this, i would recommend going with 1000ft elevation changes, rather than 1500ft. Location. Have a quick look at google earth and look at the topology of the seafloor. GE shows elevation of the mouse, so just hover over areas to get a feel for how high features are. All islands are formed by plate tectonics and volcanism. From a cursory glance, your island is located partially on the Rockall, Edoras, and Lorien Banks, and the rest just floats out over a 9000ft deep sea. While it's not really that important, it's just like the name. As well, designing your map to fit the local plate tectonics constrains you but also gives you options to make something that you wouldn't normally think of making. For example Denton was originally located just north of the Diamantina escarpment, on a plateau that rose up from the seafloor to the highest point of 3310ft. It's a bit of a stretch, but the islands fit into that slot only and would not work anywhere else. (the location and the formation has changed slightly, but that's not my point). Just some ideas and tips for you to think over. -EZ |

Thanks for that. I did think that the coastlines have too many straight lines for a count of pixels. Also, a relocation on the Atlantic may come since I created a weird void between soil and seafloor. Thanks f0or that Google thing, I'll look at that later. I will get to explaining the name, but I'm a fan of Germany, so using "emany" in "Raermany" was a tribute to that, but to legitimize that, I need some more explaining behind the Vikings (hence I labeled it WIP). |

I might explain that due to even greater volcanic activity in that region of the Atlantic, that island formed up in a million year process. |
