The Kingdom of the Netherlands-By Mitchell300 The Kingdom of the Netherlands is like the Kingdom of the Netherlands of today, but it has something extra's. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_the_Netherlands It contains as extra: Boly-Gene South Africa(A part of SA was from the Netherlands, But not the part that is now in it(For 20%?) East Frisia(Germany's frisia) New Guinea(Remained in the Kingdom in my AU) Suriname(Remained in the Kingdom in my AU) This was the Empire of the Netherlands for a long time http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... pire35.PNG In my AU the Dutch Defences have a little bit larger Budget, but still remains so low that people have to be creative to be able to do their job in the Defences. About the navy: The navy consists always of 2 flagships, one for the Western Navy Smaldelen(Squadrons), And one for the Eastern Navy Smaldelen(Squadrons) Western Navy flagships: 1953-1993 De Ruyter C801 (Remained in active full service from 1953 till 1991, after that she was inactive, but remained in 4 month time deployment ready) 1992-1999 Eendracht RL85 (Was placed under Flagship status because the new planned LPD class remained under development status and De Ruyter was not feaseble for Flagship in this period of time) 1999-2018 Rotterdam L800 (Was inmidiatly planned from the development stage on to be able to command a whole fleet, but since it is an amphibious ship it does not always contain the statics to command a carrier task force or other squads other then Amphibious forces) 2018-2038 Thales Cruiser 1(No name yet) (Was like the Rotterdam planned from developtment stage planned to be a command platform for the dutch fleet. Unlike the Rotterdam she was able to reach a feaseble speed and fits in every type of squadron (Exept submarine) and was a succesfull Flagship for the navy) Eastern Navy flagships: 1953-1984 Zeven Provincien CLM802 (Remained in service till she got a rear engine room fire, wich spread out till surrounding rooms and the forward engine room. She was decommisioned on site of fire, and towed to the Waddensea till her future was clear) 1984-1988 Tromp F801 (Placed in the Eastern fleet as Flagship after the Zeven Provincien was Decommisioned) 1988-2000 Draekenflugt LST803 (Rebuild to a commando platform wich could act as a Flagship with commando platform in any case. She could also participate in submarine squadron by using her brand new radars, fitted at the modification's) 2000-2019 Johan De Witt (The second Rotterdam Class LPD. Same as the Rotterdam she was planned to be a Flagship and Commando platform right from the start. But both ships failed to maintain its status in different squadrons other then Amphibious) The Flagships as you can see variate between classes, and in the end they finally became the ships they needed to be. Good Commando platform Good Fleet Defence Feaseble speed The fleet list from 1980 to later: Every fleet list counts 60 ships added to the large surface and submarine fleet. This is because i think it has to be 60 to maintain all the Tugs, hydrographic, mine counter measure ships, transport ships, royal yacht, coast guard, etc etc. 1970-1980:(128 ship fleet)(Cold war area, fleet is large and doing well on development) 1x Light carrier(Karel Doorman R81) 3x Escort carriers(RL81-82-83) 2x Light cruisers(C801,C802 De ruyter and Zeven Provincien) 12x Destroyers(10xHolland Class,2x Friesland Class)(8 of the 20 are in unactive state to be sold, The rest follows in 1980-1992) 17x Frigates(12xVan Speijk Class,5x Kortenaer Class) 3x AOR (Poolster,Zuiderkruis,Noorderster) 4x Cor (Van Ghaelen Class) 4x LST (4xDraekenflugt Class) 16x LSP (Landing Ship Personnel) 8x SS(6xDolfijn Class,2xZwaardvis class) 1980-1990:(132 ship fleet)(End period of Cold war, fleet was still expanding and modernising against sovjet threats) 1x Light carrier(Karel Doorman R81) 2x Escort carriers(RL82-83) 2x Light cruisers(C801,C802 De ruyter and Zeven Provincien) 4x Destroyers(4xHolland Class)(6x Holland, 2x Friesland in Active Reserve) 30x Frigates(10x Van Speijk Class,15x Kortenaer Class, 5x Jacob van Heemskerck Class) 3x AOR(Poolster,Zuiderkruis,Noorderster) 8x Cor(S type Class) 1x COMMP (Draekenflugt Class) 3x LST (3x Draekenflugt Class) 10x LSP (Landing Ship Personnel) 8x SS(6xDolfijn Class,2xZwaardvis class) 1990-2000:(120 ship fleet)(Cold war ended, old ships being sold and new ones come in) 2x LPD(Rotterdam L800,Johan De Witt L801) 1x Escort carrier(RL83) 1x Light Cruiser(C801 De Ruyter) 32x Frigates(15x Kortenaer Class,5x Jacob van Heemskerck Class, 12x Karel Doorman Class) 4x AOR(Poolster(until 1994),Zuiderkruis,Noorderster,Poolster(From 1996)) 8x Cor(S type Class) 1x COMMP (Draekenflugt Class) 3x LST (3x Draekenflugt Class) 8x SS(2xZwaardvis Class,6x Walrus Class) 2000-2010:(103 ship fleet)(Recession area, fleet gained over 30% less budget, and caused lack of goods, and also ships) 4x LPD(Rotterdam L800,Johan De Witt L801,(Improved Rotterdam class)Amsterdam L802,Zaandam L803) 18x Frigates(4x Kortenaer Class,6x Zeven Provincien Class,8x Karel Doorman Class) 3x AOR(Zuiderkruis,Noorderster,Poolster) 10x Cor(4x S type Class,6xS type2 Class) 8x SS(6x Walrus Class,2x Type 212 Class) 2010-2020:(103 ship fleet)(Modern area of stealth and automation, plus recession left over) 1x LHD(Karel Doorman L804) 4x LPD(Rotterdam L800,Johan De Witt L801,(Improved Rotterdam class)Amsterdam L802,Zaandam L803) 2x JSS(Zuiderkruis A855,Poolster A846) 2x Light Cruiser(Thales cruiser1/2 Class) 4x Destroyer(DDX Class) 12x Frigates(6x Zeven Provincien Class,6x FFX Class) 4x OPV(Holland Class) 6x Cor(S type2 Class) 8x SS(6x Walrus Class,2x Type 212 Class) 2020-2030:(95 ship fleet)(Political reason for decreasing) 1x LHD(Karel Doorman L804) 2x LPD(Improved Rotterdam class)Amsterdam L802,Zaandam L803) 2x JSS(Zuiderkruis A855,Poolster A846) 2x Light Cruiser(Thales cruiser1/2 Class) 4x Destroyer(DDX Class) 12x Frigates(6x Zeven Provincien Class,6x FFX Class) 4x OPV(Holland Class) 8x SS(2x Type 212 Class,6x Type 220 Class) |

(I need some names, who can provide?) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Dutch_people I guess the "Royal Family" and "Military" sections would be appropriate sources for ship names.

The WIP of the Improved Rotterdam Class. It is a Rotterdam, but more modern, and enters service in 2006 and 2008, it is not a Johan De Witt (Less pricy) On the LST class, it will also come soon. |

Looks good, However as your kingdom involves quite a lot of coastline, I would like to see a relative large FAC/OPV fleet of about 12-20 ship (think of K-130 of something). These ships would cut cost immensely compared to deploying frigates for these tasks, as we know well enough by now;) My suggestion for the future fleet: 2020-2030: 2x LHD (always better to have two, one near home/repair and one for tasks around the world 2x LPD (good) 4x JSS (as these will also for fill the role as replenisher, you will need some of these ships for your fleets around the world, for instance on near Suriname, one near New Genuia and two near home or something) 2x Light Cruisers (good offensive capabilities) 6x Destroyers (I would increase the class by another two, just to make up for the immense area you have to cover) 12x Frigates (Looks fine to me) 10x OPV (Now I would increase the Holland class by another 6 units, perfect to patrol the waters around the other parts of the Kingdom) 8x SSK (Fine) Otherwise, carry on;) |

The Holland class is not going to cut it as your sole class of OPVs. It doesn't have nearly as much range as is necessary to cover the huge patrol areas we're talking about. You'll need something more in line with what the USCG calls a medium or even a high endurance cutter. |

As you can see, i got a 60 extra ship fleet to the surface fleet you see in my list. I said that those also contains coast guard (Large station ships). There are 6 of them. I quess i will draw them aswell for you. But now i want to finish the largest surface ships in the fleet. I hope i can make the Escort carrier stunning looking and good ships, before i head on with the rest I know large area's of coastline. For 2010+: But with one opv in every area (1 at carribean, 1 south africa, 1 new gunea, 1 repair/reserve/etc etc) and 4 walrus class submarines for patrol and 6 coast guard station ships (Wich carry a ciws and a 76mm from Oto melara) it is quite enough. Especially for a budget that the netherlands maintain in that area of time. Compared to suriname+south africa+new gunea+dutch/belgium navy, and east frissia addon(Maby 2/3 ships) the navy is show you is smaller then those real life navies togheter. But to be realistic, the firepower of the navy i show you is far greater. Thanks to the cruisers, and the lhd. And no, a second LHD wont be coming. To expensive... And since a JSS is basicly a Helicopter carrier, it can act as one (It can freaking hold 8 chinooks with open wings ) Imagine what it carries with them enclosed... |

Go away with USN or USCG ships...
