This is an AU that takes place in the Elder Scrolls universe. This age is one thousand years after the events of Skyrim. There are three major players on the continent of Tamriel; The Empire of Tamriel (5th empire,) the Kingdom of Skyrim, and the Aldmeri Dominion. There are also three minor powers: the Kingdom of Solstheim the Republic of Hammerfell and the Argonian Consortium. The Empire, Skyrim and the Aldmeri have a sort of triangle of hostility towards each other. Each are trying to get the minor powers to side with them. In the year 5E105 there is a cold war between the Empire and the Aldmeri that threatens to destabilize the region and draw everyone into the war.

War did eventually break out in 5E116. The Empire had to fight on three fronts; against Skyrim in the north, and the Aldmeri in the south. After some bitter fighting Skyrim and the Empire came to an agreement, a cease-fire was declared and the two fought against the Aldmeri. After ten years of fighting the Aldmeri advance was stopped and the war ended with status quo ante bellum. Near the end of the war the Argonians launched an invasion of Solstheim. The smaller and outgunned navy of Solstheim fought bitter and managed to drive away the Argonian invasion fleet after they were lured within range of the coastal artillery. A small intervention fleet from Cyrodiil managed to stop the conflict, but the Aldmeri ever vigilantly lookin for ways to destabilize the region almost risked another war with the Empire after they tried to convince the Argonians to continue, and for Hammerfell to join in. After seing only failure the Aldmeri backed down and went back to it`s isolationist policy.

After a prince from Skyrim was shot and killed by an anarchist group from Hammerfell in 5E168, war eventually broke out between the two nations. The Aldmeri secrtely smugled in weapons and advisors to Hammerfell. This was an unprecedented feat as the Aldmeri had never shared any of their superior technology before. The Empire set forth a set of demands to the Aldmeri that they stop, or a state of war would exist between the two. The Aldmeri refused, and immediately declared war. A Aldmeri backed coup d´etat took place in Argonia, and a joint invasion of both Cyrodiil and Solstheim took place. The Empire was not able to help as they were too busy fighting on two fronts. Skyrim sent a naval task force, but was forced to withdraw after being beaten by a superior Aldmeri task force. Solstheim put up a valiant fight, but was soon overrun. Both Skyrim and the Empire was able to evacuate a significant portion of the army and navy of Solstheim. After two years, the Empire had lost the province of High Rock to Hamerfell, and the province of Morrowind was ennexed by the Aldmeri. With Cyrodiil about to be overrun the Emperor saw no choice but to surrender and take as much of his staff and the military as he could, and fled to exile in Skyrim. A new regime was constructed in Cyrodiil, a puppet government that was secretly controlled by the Aldmeri. Skyrim now stood alone to fight on all corners of it`s land. With the remnants of the Imperial fleet and army, Skyrim was able to hold it`s own.

Dissidents in Hammerfell was growing exponetially as casualties was reaching unacceptable losses. A full blown revolution took place, and the corrupt senate was overthrown. A new government was formed with support from Skyrim. An alliance was forged. Their first act was to retake Solstheim. The two nations sent much supplies and many instructors to help the resistance movment. In order to succeed, the Aldmeri navy had to be distracted from Solstheim. The Emperor voulenteered lo lead his navy in to battle. The fleets survival was slim to none. False information was sent out, hopiong that the Aldmeri would find it. The Imperial navy sailed out, and two days later was promptly destroyed by the Aldmeri fleet in a long and bloody battle. When the navy of Skyrim came within bisual range of Solstheim, only the Argonian fleet was protecting it. The Argonians realized what had happened, a paranoid and rather selfish, disloyal admiral decided to withdraw his fleet, leaving the troops to fend for them selves. With the help of the resistance, most of the military materiel was nautralized by naval gunfire, leaving the Argonian army without heavy equipment and supply reserves. The invasion force quickly went ashore. The battle for the island was not as swiftly as anticipated, and soon became a slow moving bloodbath. After four weeks the island was retaken. This victory was an enormouse moral booster in a time when a victory, even a very small one seemed impossible.

The island of Morrowind was not considered important enough to retake, but was blockaded instead. Land based planes and battleships and cruisers destroyed as much as possible, leaving the troops there without the food and supplies they needed. By the end of the war, half of the 200,000 troops there had starved or frozen to death. An invasion of Argonia was planned. The Aldmeri did not care enough to help the Argonians as their offensives in Skyrim controlled areas of Cyrodiil and Hammerfell had come to a stand still. The Argonians were warned by the Aldmeri, and a decission was taken; they would surrender before the invasion force could be launched. The navy of the Argonians were interned, and/or demilitarized. The war had now taken a new direction: now, the Aldmeri was the one to stand alone. They still had a significant military, one that was more advanced than all the others. In a surprising move, the Aldmeri asked for a peace talk. Their only condition was, that no conditions were to forced on them. The other nations were considering rejecting the notion all together, but after seven years of war and tens of millions dead, they accepted the proposal. A new Emperor was elected in the newly liberated Cyrodiil. He went into negotiations with Solstheim and Hammerfell. Hammerfell would be allowed to keep High Rock, in return, the Empire gained rights to station any military personel or hardware they deemed fit in Hammerfell and High Rock. Most of the island of Solstheim was no longer habitable, the soil was unfurtile, and the landscape scarred by bombings and bombardements. Tens of thousands mines littered both the ocean and the countryside, making it unjustifiable dangerouse to live there. The population was relocated to the island Morrowind.

Skyrim and the newly formed 6th Empire formed a new alliance to counteract future Aldmeri aggression and to try and unite all powers against the Aldmeri. Hammerfell and Morrowind quickly joined the alliance. The Argonians refused to join the alliance. The Aldmeri were never offered a position, as neither they wanted to be a part of it, nor did anyone else want them in it. It would take almost another 100 years before the Aldmeri tried to destabilize the region again.

Imperial Navy

The Imperial navy had existed for thousand of years, with the industrial revolution, new ships that were made out of steel and big guns in rotating turrets could be built. The big gun battleship would be the mainstay of the Imperial navy until late 5E100s.

Royal Skyrim Navy

The first class of dreadnought batleship, the Windhelm class:

Here´s the successor to the Windhelm class; the Whiterun class. While not having more powerful main battery, the layout was superior to that of the Windhelm. The secondary battery was also moved into better positions.

the Ysgramor class is armed with 8x16 inch guns in four twin turrets. The secondaries are six twin 6 inch guns and 8x4 inch twin AA guns. Point-defense AA is provided by 16 double 40mm gunsTand 30 20mm guns. The ship was a result of a rather traditionalist movement that had swept the military of Skyrim in the mid 5E150s. That is the reason for the four twin turrets and the mixed secondaries. The ship was built with radars, and as such, did not have a catapult for seaplanes. What the ships lacked in firepower, they made up for in terms of armor and speed, the ships had a top speed of 32 knots. The Ulfric Stormcloak managed to reach 32,7 knots on its speed trials. The ships were regarded as very handsome ships and well regarded by the Royal Navy as steady gun platforms. The ships suffered from rather short range, and in some cases, unreliable engines.

Royal Solstheim Navy

The navy of Solstheim was rather small, and consisted of small cruisers, destoryers and smaller vessels. After an economic and population boom, the navy was able to buy new coastal defense ships that were built in Skyrim.

The first was the Solstheim class

Argonian Navy

Here´s the first battleship in the Argonian navy; the Argonia. She was built in Skyrim because the Empire did not export weapons to other nations. The Argonia is armed with 8x12 inch guns and 20x76mm guns. She is a rather small dreadnought because Argonia is mostly marshland and the coast is not that very deep. The military infrastrucure in Argonia is also rather lacking. Though small, they were still very powerful, and well armored for a ship of her size.

Ulfric Stormcloak would be a fitting name for a skyrim capitalship.

Ace: USS South Carolina?

Karle: I like how you manage to make all navies having relativety diverse designs for turrets, superstructures etc.
I especially like the Windhelm class, and the placement of the rather redundant bow secondaries.
