Well, after seeing my Aegir drawing I thought how inferior the corresponding Gemstone drawing was considering that they meant to be related designs. Ergo I went about redrawing the class again. Specifications and the sub variants will follow tomorrow but this is being put up in case there are any glaring deficiencies visible. Also of note after recalibrating my monitor properly I wasn't happy with my choice of colours either for vessels... So those have and/or will change too. I abandoned the azipods on these at least (the cruisers which are also being redrawn will retain theirs) and opted for the contra-rotating set-up favoured on the Aegirs. Forward launcher contains 64 cells, launchers flanking the sensor tower contain 32 cells between them and the aft most launchers embedded into the helicopter deck contain 16 between them. All except the aft most launchers are the longer varieties of the AVLS the aft most being reserved for PDMs being the shortest AVLS. The domed array on the main mast may stay or go depending on what I can come up with otherwise.

Updated Gemstone images and added the Mountain class CGLs to the Gemstone post.

ETA: Also added a redux of the Sparrow FAC/OPV things. SWATH concept similar to sebu's SWATH corvette posted a while back...

I figure I might as well "export" some of my designs if anyone wishes to use either them or the Aegirs posted in my other thread for their AU I'm all for it so long as they don't get kitbashed into something terrible...

Next design to get a revamp will be the Metallurgy class of frigates, watch this space.

ETA: What do people think about the idea of Voith Schneider props on a frigate? Granted they wouldn't be fast but from an acoustics point of view for ASW work?

Thanks for the kind words.

First WIP of the revamped Metallurgy frigates.

Not sure about the props as noted above, whether they're more of a hindrance than a benefit compared to normal screws.
B1s are ASW orientated and B2s are the GP vessels, long way yet to go but some feedback on the general layout would be nice...

there are some minesweepers, tugs and patrol craft with VSP. I have never seen them as main propulsion on an ship this big though, but they sure are silent. I would say it is worth the research if it is doable and what speed is possible.
