The Type 81 was designed for calm water and had bad sea keeping characteristics, perhaps 3-4 more Type 12 is better option. Otherwise good work.

they were designed to be used by the RN in the Persian Gulf, fairly shallow and calm, there COSAG power plant meant they could quickly sprint out of port without waiting for the steam plant to be fully ready, they were also single shafted and about as manoeuvreable as the Exon Valdiez :-), there main short comings when the RN brought the ships home and used them in the Cod Wars. so I agree not the best option but I figured I'd just about get away with them as i'm not a million miles from the Persian Gulf and my countries ties with a number of middle eastern states with mutual defence agreements would mean I'd have naval assets deployed in that region regularly. also they would be suited to gun boat duties close to the African coast in calmer seas.

Plus I have a bit of a soft spot for RN Frigate designs and wanted to broaden my old navy's fleet rather than simply field various type 12 types..... I'd considered type 14 and 61 too but for some reason I like the type 81's I just think they look the part having two ended armament despite there short comings.

Personally I prefer Type 41/61 from Type 81, much better sea keeping and more economic to use because of diesel power. But is your AU, this is my opinion.

Current Navy modified, Cromer Class CVN Electronics refitted along the lines of CDG, no need for a carrier to have something as powerfull as SAMPSON.

Future Surface Combatants modified, Replacements for the Oceanic class added....
