I've been sitting here trying to think of superlatives to praise your drawing Rowdy36.

Those 4.5" turrets look very good. The 8" turrets look like late model RN turrets of the time, as the others have said the guns in them look like 6". The 40mm singles look non-standard as well but in a good way.

The superstructure looks familiar , but why change a winning formula.

I do agree the guns look a tad small, they are the same thickness as the 8in turrets on the current parts sheet but I think with the bulkier turrets they look a lot smaller. I've tried a version with thicker barrels:


Main belt: 5in (127mm)
Upper belt: 2in (51mm)
Torpedo bulkhead: 2in (51mm)
Forward conning tower: 4in (102mm)
Main turret face: 5in (127mm)
Main turret other: 2in (51mm)
Barbette: 3in (76mm)
Secondaries: 2in (51mm)
Exactly! But also because I'm lazy and re-use a lot of stuff...

From a quick look and cut/paste from RN sheet it looks like your barrels are too short, 8"/50 will be 33.5 ft, 67 pixels, about 40 pixels would show as barrel, you only have 31 pixels showing. Barrel on the 8" mk2 on RN sheet has 37 pixels.

True, but it's the same story with the 6in turrets - the twin turrets have a lot more barrel showing than the triples. The distance from the muzzle to the back of the turret is exactly the same for both the twin and the triple, just the triple is a bulkier turret.

Not too sure what the reason behind it is, or whether it would result in the same thing for 8in triples so if anyone has more information please let me know

I notice no deck armor, is the torpedo bulkhead supposed to be deck or does she have a TDS and deck armor?

I SS'd the design with both a TDS and a 2-inch deck, the design works quite well although displacement did rise a bit...

Oops, I'd just forgotten to add it in. Deck armour is 3.5in.
