Why shouldn't it?
So long as the STIR can talk with you combat system you should be fine. Direct director-gun setups are fairly rare.

ok. I thought so, but wasn't sure. well, then this ship can attack 4 target's at once (maybe more, as the SMART-S can do a bit of director role as well), of which 3 with 2 guns and 1 with 1..... and of course it can use sea sparrows at those target's as well...and don't forget the harpoons :D
I don't want to be this ships opponent on short range XD

Let me teach you another thing.
Onboard of navy ships, there are always things that can never connect to each other, if you attach them to each other.
How to fix this?
They are called Interface's. Its like connecting your blue ray dvd player to a tv from 1990. Can not work!
You need something in between (donno if that can be done with this example, but its the best i could find )

On board of my ship, we have italian, dutch, american stuff.
SRBOC is american
76mm is italian
the rest is dutch.
We got something called, Data handeling. Wich handels all the data from Nautica data up to the weapon data.
Between the Data handeling, and the 76mm is an interface. Because they can not talk to each other. See it as a translator between them.

So if an item is able to do something, and the thing you want to connect it to aswell. Then use an interface.

See it as an...
3d television wich you want to connect to an Computer with 3d games.
You need the wire for it to connect, both has the statics that they can play or use 3d items.

So if you get a 127mm usa gun, or from sweden, or china what ever...
They can connect.
You just got to make an interface, and software to translate to do so :D

There are of course limitations to this, especially in the older semi-analogue systems.

Not really.
At Thales they managed to add a turret from 1961 to a system from 2010. With only one printcard.
And also a cable to connect them.
You can basicly add everything togheter wich will work. Yes limitations ofcoarse of what they can do afterwards. But it can be done if you got the $$$$.

Like I said, limitations. And I would really like to see it work together with TORCI.

Your SRBOC.
Is that stored below the STIR 1 and 2?
Or what else is that room used for?

If i where you i would put the APECS a little bit more to the front.
Like that you can create a perfect 360 degree zone of Electron warface.
Also do you want to find the exact location of the enemy with EOV?
Use a set of MRU (Monopulse receiver unit)
The ORU (Omni receiver unit) receives radar signals in 360 degree zone.
This goes to various cabinets, and then to the MRU.
The MRU has a 360 degree zone to find the enemy signal, and the panel with the best signal says the ship is in that direction.
With this you got a faster reaction time with the APECS to close their radar signals, or send false radar signals (similar as them, this is calculated in cabinets) back with false info.
Or to missiles ofcourse.
The MRU can be found on the Smart-S platform on the M-fregates.
Its in the front, and the back.
You got to draw them yourself, because on the M-fregates on SB they are false.
[ img ]
Here you see one on the front.
It has 4 sides, 1 on SB, one on BB. And then two angled \ /.
It has 3 stairs, one with the biggest rounds.
Then a middle one.
And then a small round.

Mitch ;)

no room, only an exit for the stairs and an entrance to get in the mast, mainly.

the APECS can't be placed more up front, because the structure is narrower over there. it covers 360 degrees though, toghether with one on the other side of the structure with the STIR's on it.

that MRU seems like an good idea... I can edit that in without too much problems. will do. any other comments?

btw, I am currently working on the renewed background story.....

I like the looks of Elvira, it looks good. It makes a change to see an AU recently that actually looks like it could be a real design. I leave the Dutch techhie talk to those who know more about it but I like the overall.

The funnel/ mack exhuast could use a little improvement and some more detailing though.
