In 1973 Greater Thailand bought 2 patrol frigates from United Kingdom again. Vosper Mk 7 was built completed in 1976 but install only new sensors and new main gun. The navy plan to install Sea Cat missile and Gabriel missile in a few years but the conflict in Greater Thailand was change everything.

In 1982 a Vosper Mk 7 Frigate was transfer to Ayutthaya. Next year Cantiere Navale Breda Italy refit the ship by install EXOCET missiles (like Chanin Class Fast Attack Craft Guided-missile), Krupp Atlas 80 sonar, torpedo launchers and Aspide missiles. France don't sold all weapons to Greater Thailand but not have this problem with Ayutthaya, and Sea Cat missile look too old in 1983

Ayutthaya Vanalee Class 2013 : Training Ship

In 2013 Vanalee Class refit again, she came to the training ship and the guard ship for the king palace 4 months per year. remove all outdated missiles and built 20x11m Helicopter Deck. Ayutthaya Navy have 6 Robinson R44 basic training Helicopters.

The ship can install new standard weapons if required, The Coastal Missile Division have 12 Sako Launchers for Mistral missiles can move to the ship. in 1996 Ayutthaya and Greater Thailand develop AIM-9M Sidewinder quadruple launcher surface-to-air missile, but don't use naval version in all ships.

Love the idea behind the Sidewinder launcher. Reminds me of the Chaparral conversion Taiwan did to their old WW2 DDs.

Nice to see the canvas, nothing like open-air training for sailors. Plus, you can have the ship's barbecues there. (Fondly remembering Thai barbecue).
