First off, that may be the result of the rather simplistic model.
Secondly, I didn't say it wasn't possible, just that it doesn't give you anything RCS-wise.

as I said, nothing on the source of the model. there is just way too little known about how the real ship will look..... well apart from renders, which are all from the OTHER side -.-
but indeed, it won't help much with the RCS on carriers...... I only put it here as an 'option', not really to respond on you, thiel ;) the only advantage of this setup I can think of is that the hangar doors are less vulnerable for waves/missiles/ whatever.

I've got a rough idea of how I think they'd work. However it's now redundant.

Update

Very nice! Though I agree with Tim on the bow, not too fond of it.

Too oblique? Too fat? Would help if either of you would tell me what exactly makes you shudder about it =]

he means the nonstandard and weird underwater hull in the bow, if I understood it correctly.

The shading suggests that there's a bulge of some kind there, but it's not a sonar or a bulbous bow.

Hopefully the last update for Ark Royal. (I say that and I know something will be wrong)

What does the bulb do other than slow you down?
If it doesn't protrude ahead of the ship, you don't get the associated benefits in fuel economy.
