Wales, Scotland, Cornwall and Northern Ireland have claimed independence in 2011 and now, due to the funding aspects have gone about forming the Commonwealth of Celtic States or CCS. The deal included England getting free Elan Valley water for two years and basing rights in Scotland for 10 years, Wales for five and Cornwall for 15 years. Another thing that the deal includes in a Mutal Defence Pact which, in practise means that they must defend each other if there is an act of war against one. With regards to territory the CCS got West Falkland, St Helena and the Virgin Islands. The CCS must under all circumstances defend these territories and also contribute to any English task force that sails to defend its territories and visa versa.
The Military of the CCS is 100% shared meaning that any member state, given a good reason can call upon its whole strength if need be. With regards to basing naval bases include Milford Haven, Belfast, Faslane and Rosyth. With regards to Air Forces it is independent although it must contribute an Army Air Corps (AAC) and Naval Air Arm (NAA). Its bases include Brawdy, Valley, Aldergrove, a new air base on West Falkland, Lossiemouth, Luchars and Kinloss. The army is specialised in mobility and because of this there are no marines as this is covered for by the army. There is the use of existing army bases although there has been the construction of a defence ministry in Swansea on the sight of the old DVLA.
The navy is equipped with the ex-RN Ark Royal, an air capable Spruance hull, 4 brand new Island Class frigates, 4 modified Type 22 Batch III (now IV) frigates and 6 River Class Corvettes(amongst smaller patrol vessels). These vessels are equipped with a mix of British and American weapons. With regards to aircraft the standard ASW a/c is the AgustaWestland AW-149.
The helicopter element of the forces uses the AW-149 as mentioned above, Lynx Wildcat in AAC configuration, V-22, Chinook and Sea Apache. The fast jet aspect uses Gripen, F-35C (currently land based pending acquisition of Cat and Trap Carrier) and Hawks and the prop elements use Super Tucanos. Transport is provided by 4 Tristars, 6 CN-235, 4 ageing C-130 and a C-17.
The army have large amounts of Alvis Stormer APCs, Scorpion Light Tanks, Saxon APCs and Challenger 2 tanks. They are armed with SA80 family rifles, American Mortars, British 105 Howitzers and AS90. They specialise in being quick to deploy on CCS ships and NATO/CCS C-17s
With regards to political divides there is free trade between England and the rest of the EU. Although each nation is an independent state they use common laws and only have one elected representative at the UN, NATO and other International bodies. With regards to the E.U. They all have at least 2 MEPs but all of these come under one banner. There are strong political ties with England, the US, Australia and Brazil. The government owns a 40% stake in BAe Systems and own CSD Ltd. (Celtic States Defence Limited)
Military doctrine is that the CCS shall align its self with England and the US and that it should be a rapid response military that has a task group ready within 10 days and fully ready for conflict within a month. The national airline/shipping line Celtic Lines must be ready to hand over equipment to the military at little or no notice and it is a requirement for some employees to be called up as reserves.
Will post all designs (all modified from other peoples and parts sheets).
If anyone would like to make a comment, a suggestion or to criticise me please post away.
