Then should the colors be red-white-blue. Not red with a swaztika....
Half correct. This AU sees no Hitler, no nazis but a constitutional monarchy after the 1919/1920s uprisings.
The swastika is a very old symbol representing life, sun, power, and finally good luck. The nazis just perverted it. For me as german it is very, very sad the symbol is forbidden here. But in this AU it's the symbol of the newly formed germanian empire.
Despite that I decided not to use the prefix SMS anymore. The ships are the ships of the germanian empire, not his majesty's anymore.

@DG_Alpha: I like the changings you did to Rostock. And a sister Wismar.

Well - its your AU - but I think it would be more realistic if you used the signs o the king/ emperor, such as the imperial crown, the red-white-black flag and reuse those royal names used before the fall of the emperor.

In most monarchies even where the king is more or less powerless the symbols are of great importance - look for instance at the Scandinavian kingdoms. If your ships are called SMS - alla CoA should carry a imperial crown.

I have to why? What possible need could the Germans have for an LHA in 1946? As operation Overlord showed, the majority of southern England is within easy reach of aircraft stationed in Northern France so there's no need to move the airfields closer.
Besides, the technology to do so is still ten to fifteen years away.

Not sure whether folks here are aware of the Electra sonne navigation equipment that the KM introduced in '43 for UB.
Ive seen it quoted as giving a 2 nautical mile accuracy and much better with experience, with a max range by the most powerful transmitter of 1300 miles.
By '46 this could have evolved into a tracking/control system for A7 etc.
Just a thought!
ciao

Not really. Electra Sonne worked on the same principle as Decca and Decca was only accurate to within a couple of miles at best during the night (Which is when you'd be launching because you'd have to surface in order to fix your position) and even less at the edge of the covered zones (Which the far side of the Atlantic would be in a war)
Coverage in the upper atmosphere is also going to be spotty.
The signals are also easily jammed.

In April 1942 the OKM asked for a destroyer design superior to any existing destroyer. The answer was easy: a Spaehkreuzer-hull with upper changes to meet the requested destroyer-design. For superiority the excellent 20,3cm SK34 was chosen, an extreme calibre for a destroyer.

Sorry, It won't work; manually handling this size shell would prove too burdensome, 6-in was the upper limit for loading as shown here; unless, in this world humans have enhanced muscles? Besides which, why choose the equivalent of 8-in anyway? This calibre is not necessary to defeat other destroyers or even smaller cruisers.

That said, its a nice looking hull :)

Additionally, you're never going to be able to counterbalance the gun if you mount the trunnions that far back.
