Foley Class Hospital Ship
The Foley Class Combat Hospital/Disaster Response Ship is designed to provide emergency, on-site care for ADF combatant forces, and also for use in support of disaster relief and humanitarian operations. She has 4 fully equipped operating rooms, a 250 bed hospital facility, radiological services, a medical laboratory, pharmacy, optometry lab, CT scan equipment, a hypobaric chamber and 2 oxygen producing plants.
In accordance with the Second Geneva Convention, HMAS Foley must not be used for any military purpose, or interfere with or hamper enemy combatant vessels. Similarly, she cannot be attacked by military forces.
She was built by Sumitomo Australia Limited in Port Adelaide, South Australia and named after Commodore Mary Foley who was a decorated RAN Nursing Officer who passed away from cancer in 2008.

No weapons are carried on HMAS Mary Foley as per the regulations of the Hague Convention X of 1907.

2 x Sikorsky HH-60AU(A) Mercy Hawk Helicopters
HMAS Mary Foley forms part of the 15th Auxiliary Squadron and operates from Fleet Base East (FBE), New South Wales.
