Very cool!

A well thought-out and believable AU. Great work!

Welcome ZiF and well done indeed! Glad you started with balanced and modest (in a good way) vessels.

Nice, sensible little vessels. SPS-40 on the corvette seems like massive overkill, though. For a small nation with minimal domestic defense interests, I'd look to some of the European offerings of the period. I don't have my Friedman readily at hand, but I'll suggest some other fits tonight.

I stand corrected!

For what it's worth, the Persian Gulf and Red Sea are highly susceptible to ducting in S-band, which for a small ship with a limited processing capability might have been seen as undesirable for the air search set. That would explain the choice of a P-band air search radar for a Saudi vessel. That part of the Caribbean, while plenty hot, I don't think is quite so duct-friendly.

I'd take a look at similar-sized vessels from a similar era operated by Central and South American powers and see if they also opted for L- and P-band search sets, or if they went with a somewhat more typical S-band air search radar. It's important to "tune" the ship for its area of operation, even for a major power! For much of the Cold War, the USN favored L- and P-band search radars because they performed well both in calm seas and rough seas; the Soviets, who did not expect to operate in calmer waters, went with S-band sets instead.
