Post subject: | USN Maritime Prepositioning Force (Future) |
Maritime Prepositioning Force (Future) was a USN/USMC project initiated in the early 2000s to design and create Maritime Prepositioning Ship Squadron (MPSRON) capable of delivering a Marine Expeditionary Brigade (MEB). The MEB is comprised of a Command Element, Combat Ground Element, and Air Combat Element. MEB will be delivered to shore objectives via a combination of airlifts and sealifts. Notional MPSRONs evaluated are both Distributed Capability Ships (all identical and perform multiple missions) and Family of Ships (multiple types of specialized ships). Further information can be found at https://www.globalsecurity.org/military ... /mpf-f.htm. Marine Expeditionary Brigade (2015 Baseline) Command Element (CE) Marine Headquarters Group (Det.) As many designs existed as outer mould lines and basic compartment & access drawings, external details and outfitting were added to provide an appearance similar to other ships of the same type. This is an exceptionally impressive addition to the 'bucket. Thank you for the time you have put into it, and for sharing it with us. |

Excellent work! Very comprehensive set of well made drawings. One question (and with my excuses if this is not the correct place for making it), may I ask if vessels of this force are civilian manned or if the crew is from the US Navy? Cheers and thanks! |

They would have been civilian crewed for the operations of the ship, but obviously lots of military onboard. |

Thanks Timothy. This was fun for me. All these designs got floated around, and then the project got cancelled due to cost. There's some CGI renderings, but not for all of them. It was cool to see what they might have looked like. |

Each drawing is here, it's hard work. Work with schemes, hundreds of photos. What you presented here is nothing more than a chaotic set of pixels |

Ro-Po, I disagree, my friend. Those ships were scaled from AutoCAD general arrangement drawings. I don't need "hundreds of photographs" to guess the size and location of something when I know with 100% certainty how large something is and how many pixels aft of the bow it is. |

A lot of work. I am a fan of MPF for years. Nice to see here condensed this huge amount of different and partly bizarre types of ships. Keep up the good work! (BTW, basic data like length, width or displacement/GRT would be very welcomed - if, of course, available after all) |

Thanks. I don't think I have the leading particulars for all the ship's. I think I'll do that as time permits. |
